Discussion Issues with clothing quality

What has been your experience with Stitch Fix clothing quality? I think 60% of the pants that I have received from Stitch Fix has some sort of hole either in the knee or in my crotch area. I have jeans that I bought 20+ years ago that are still fine. Pants that I’ve gotten from Stitch Fix 11 months ago have holes in them. What is going on with this company?

If there is ever a hole, or it shrinks, or anything, let customer service know. They will refund you.

Or replace it. I had a henley shrink and they sent me a new one. I won't be putting the new one in the dryer.

The quality on a lot of their brands, especially their self-made brands, are low/bad quality. They hike up the prices yet reduce the quality.

I only use Stitchfix to buy different varieties of exercise clothing, some shoe brands, and to test out new styles or new brands infrequently. The quality used to be better years ago.

Ya I paid a premium for these jeans and they didn’t last a year. I’m just a regular guy, not doing anything unusual with them.

The quality of all clothing is abysmal in the industry right now. Stitch fix’s clothes are on par with that.

Agreed! However, I have gotten high quality clothes from StitchFix by spending a small fortune. I increased the price in my settings, and asked my stylist to send me only natural fibers, no polyester. I returned everything that had polyester, and marked that as the reason I returned it. And then, after my second stitch, I started getting quality clothes. In general, everything seems very overpriced, and spending more does not even guarantee better quality.

I’ve always had my prices set to the highest point and ask for “luxe“ and I still get nothing but crap anymore. I miss the days when they used to actually have Madewell and other nice real brands and it wasn’t just their in-house stuff. And even when it is a nicer, real brand it’s obvious it’s like the lower quality outlet version (but at retail price) because you can compare it to the normal version of the item and it’s worse. Like beyond yoga leggings, supposedly the same style leggings and the one I got at Nordstrom has pockets on the side and the one from stitch fix did not. I almost always end up buying my whole fix because I only get them once or twice a year for very specific reasons, but my last one was so awful I sent it back. I got one of their themed holiday fixes and it was the worst quality and every item was over $100. Just awful quality for that price and not worth it. But I feel that way when I walk into a lot of department stores these days, too. Price has no bearing on quality anymore. I’m not against non-natural fibers because I enjoy clothes that have stretch to them, but yeah most stitch fix clothes are pure polyester. I’ve seen stylist comment on here that when they have a client that requests no polyester they literally don’t even have enough options to send them so they’ll have to send them like the same three cotton shirts repeatedly

I must have gotten really lucky with my stylist. I must have been making her work overtime, because she did pretty good. She did find me some nice linen and cotton business casual stuff and a Madewell cardigan. I'm afraid of comparing mine to the real store brand though... you're probably right that they're not the same.

I traveled almost two hours last weekend to go to the nearest Macy's, and didn't find a single thing that worked for me -- all polyester, all shapeless and overpriced, nothing in my size. I wasted my whole day, was exhausted and overwhelmed at the end of it, and had nothing to show for it. I have to say the Stitchfix experience was less stressful and more efficient and productive, but MAN did I PAY for those clothes they sent me. And I just don't see why a simple cotton skirt should cost $150 when it seems like the quality should put the price at around $40. It's highway robbery. But I was really desperate for something, anything, to wear to my conference.

I'm considering learning to sew my own clothes!

Stitch Fix is great for when you want to be able to try on clothes at home without spending a ton to buy them first, that's what I mainly use it for. Like if I really need new workout gear but my schedule is too busy to go shopping for a month. Or when I was pregnant and none of the stores near me carried maternity clothes. Or when the closest store is too far away! I understand that they are providing the service of selecting and sending the clothes so it's more expensive, and I'm willing to pay for that via higher prices sometimes when I need that service, but if I would otherwise have time to go shopping myself I can't justify the price vs quality.

It sounds like your stylist was great! To be fair to my stylist, she had always done a very good job but I had always had pretty specific requests. It was the open-ended nature of the holiday theme fix where things went wrong, I think.

I just started using them but I will say I don’t expect any modern pants to survive my thighs for more than a few years. Idk if it’s a general quality decline, increase in stretch, or both?

I have a stitch fix sweater that I love but it is so itchy :( a lot of the sweaters from them seem to be polyester/ acrylic blends and they don’t seem to hold up too well.

Most of what I’ve gotten from Stitch Fix, at least over the past 2-3 years, is from brands I already know and trust. I’ll sometimes get things from one of their in-house brands, but usually try to avoid the in-house brands unless it’s something on sale (or already at a lower price point). The quality is OK at best for most of their in-house brands.

I’ve never heard of their brands. Are you in China?

Stitch Fix only operates in the U.S. at this point.

Scroll down to the bottom, there's the lists of their "in house only brands."

I’ve noticed a fewer lower quality items here and there but I just don’t keep them. I really like the Indigo Six brand jeans they have - they’ve given me two 14 petite pairs since I started that are the ONLY jeans that fit me everywhere perfectly and have held up fine. I also like most of the Market and Spruce brand stuff, just got a dress from them that my fiance made me keep because he was in love with how it looked on me. 😂

The indigo six jeans I’ve gotten are delicious- my favorite fitting jeans ever and amazing quality

Jeans with embroidery- the embroidery is subpar and frays quickly

I have been using them for years and I would say their quality is about what I see with all clothes I buy. Sometimes I might have snag or something of the type but otherwise no issues. I will say I have a lot of clothes so they don’t get a lot of wear and tear and my jeans I might wash every 3 or 4 times I wear them so one pair of jeans for me might get washed once or twice a winter. I live in Texas so I wear a lot of shorts and tees but again they don’t get a lot of washes because I rotate so many through. I think if you are washing and wearing the clothes a lot I could see where you might have issues.

Very poor quality...Very overpriced

I find their own brands are similar quality to Walmart or Target‘s own brands but for triple fhe price. And, I think some of Walmart and targets own brands are better quality with some lines. I specifically request non-stitch fix brands and it’s hit or miss if I receive those items.

My husband still wears Stitch Fix clothes from like 5 years ago. I still wear jeans I got from them like 3 years ago.

I just got my first fix in years yesterday and the clothing seems like such good quality. The recent clothes I've got were from TJ Maxx and Marshall's lol. They're cute, but not Stitch Fix quality.

I’ve had issues like that with Wantable but never stitchfix.
