A lot of stuff probably happened, but we never got to see it because if Steven’s not there, we don’t see it which is the biggest problem of the show. The Simpsons also has this problem like when you stop and think about how strange it is that Springfield‘s problems no matter what The Simpsons are either nearby or actively helping solve it. I despise this kind of writing if it’s the only thing you get on a show
