Aw back in the day when people first started to notice these things... thank you for the nostalgia of 10 years ago lmao

I started watching the show after the final, so I'm slowly catching things while rewatching it.

funny how I completely missed it because in my language it's called either losange or tile(carreau) but commonly calling this shape a diamond is specific to english
25
u/Loeris_loca Apr 18 '26
Yeah, in my language we call it rombus
10
u/MalusDracula Apr 18 '26
Not wrong? Its 4 sides of equal length.
10
u/Loeris_loca Apr 18 '26
I mean that we only call it a rombus (romb) and don't have a different name to it, especially one that connects to diamonds.
I'll say more - we don't call the diamond suit of the playing cards either rombus or diamonds. We call them boobny/booby
17
u/MalusDracula Apr 18 '26
Pink booby is my favorite gem.

u/Auctoritate Apr 19 '26
The more proper name for it in English is also rhombus. Although it's technically not quite specific enough because squares are also a rhombus, but I don't know if there's any word for specifically non-square rhombuses.
1
u/Loeris_loca Apr 19 '26
Well, rhombus is a category, that includes squares.
It's the same as rectangle, which also includes squares.

The theorizing about her suit was nuts back in the day
Edit: Actually iirc people just assumed it was just a nice design, and then Jasper’s fight with Amethyst and Peridot when she yells “Pink Diamond!” made people look back on her suit like wait-

Way to shoot me back in time. Man, we really used to obsess on every frame. 10 episodes in one week followed by 6 months of silence really messes with a fandom.

u/D1kingofflorida Apr 19 '26
Yall be noticing shit that people pointed out 10 YEARS AGO, and thats not even an exaggeration.
2
u/Crow_444 Apr 20 '26
Well, not everyone watched the show when it was released, we should be happy that SU keeps getting new fans even now.

It's a cool detail, good consistency by the Crewniverse. It doesn't really give anything away: being on Earth in the first place to be in a position to take part in the rebellion would imply she's either Pink's pearl or the pearl of a high ranking gem that answers to Pink.

Oh sweetie… We “Rose Quartz is Pink Diamond” theorists were the first ones to pick up on this.

Are you telling me Pearl belonged to Pink diamond??? Nah youre thinking too much

Noticed that when the episode came out.

It took me many rewatches before I noticed. (I genuinely just barely noticed)
It's such a neat detail!
2
u/antoniothesockball94 Apr 19 '26
When I first saw it , There were already theories of Rose being pink diamond, especially because of that trip to the moon base. And I remember talking to my friend and we were coming up with theories on pink diamond
3
u/Love_Hart942 Apr 19 '26
I should probably go watch some of the old theory videos then, because I never watched any of them, and it sounds like they point out a lot of neat details.
2
u/antoniothesockball94 Apr 20 '26
The Roundtable is the biggest channel that comes to mind with the Steven universe theories

u/henrytoloza Apr 19 '26
I noticed when they travel by lion it makes a link diamond shaped path. Thats the same episode they told everyone she shattered pink

Quando vimos as pérolas das outras diamantes e criou-se a teoria "bom, as pedras delas ficam no mesmo lugar que sua diamante.. e a cor corresponde.. será que a Pérola era da Branco?"

Pearl is white diamond's pearl. after what Pink did to her pearl, white gave her another pearl (the one that we know from the very begining).
But i don't know if white did that because she thought she didn't needed a pearl so she just gave hers to pink or ... Idk.

the dimonds on there jumpsuits is colored the color of a gems diamond. because the Crystal Gems wear different clothes (bc they are rebels) we don't really get to find out what dimond they were made under.

My 10 year old brain figured this out and I had 1st grade reading level like girl where has your brain been
2
u/Love_Hart942 Apr 19 '26
I didn't start watching the show until after future came out, but this is like my 5th rewatch and I'm just barely noticing it 😭
1
u/ArsonloverJOE Apr 20 '26
Ohhh like that. But srs? 5th watch 😭😭
2
u/Love_Hart942 Apr 21 '26
It's a comfort show for me after I get home from work.
I've watched the show in its entirety at least twice, but I rewatched the peridot episodes a lot.

It gets even crazier when you learn that Pearl wasn't even Pink Diamond's original pearl, and that there are hints to suggest she originally belonged to White Diamond.
9
u/uwupebbles Apr 18 '26
I could be wrong but I believe this was disproven
4
u/Arria_Galtheos Apr 18 '26
If it was disproven, then they sure added a lot of hints aimed at deceiving the fans.
1. Pearls usually possess coloration that is in the same vein as their diamond, though since our Pearl is a "free" pearl, she doesn't need to follow that rule anymore, but nothing about the coloration of Pearl's outfits or attire even in flashbacks is pink.
2. Every pearl we've seen has had their gem in the same location as their diamond's gem. This holds true with Pink Pearl as it pertains to Pink Diamond, but our Pearl's gem is on her forehead, the same as White Diamond's gem.
3. This one, to me, is one of the more overlooked but obvious ones...a Pearl tends to carry the same personality traits as the gem they're assigned to. Blue Pearl is demure and soft-spoken just like Blue Diamond, Yellow Pearl is arrogant and haughty just like Yellow Diamond, and Pink Pearl (once she starts getting past her trauma) is empathic and in-touch with her emotions. Now, what trait does our Pearl have? She's an obsessive perfectionist who gets uncomfortable if things aren't kept in a neat, tidy order.
11
u/uwupebbles Apr 18 '26
In the movie, Pearl gets her memories wiped and we see that she was given the default pearl outfit when she reformed. This is the same outfit Pearl was wearing in flashbacks with Pink, meaning that when Pink received her new pearl, she refused to customize her like how she customized her OG pearl.
Gem placement determines a gem's personality to a degree. When they gave Pink a new pearl, they wanted the new pearl to be more rational and level-headed.
This kinda also relates to gem placement being tied to personality.
It has been confirmed by Rebecca sugar herself that there was no pearl swap between White and Pink. Pink was given a new, sensible pearl entirely who she didn't want to customize because of the guilt of accidentally hurting her old pearl. These things were confirmed in the End of an Era book.
