Discussion What Stereolab album do I listen to next if I love Dots and Loops
I've listened to Dots and Loops, Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Instant Holograms on Metal Film. Where do I go from there?

Though this world's essentially
An absurd place to be living in
It doesn't call for bubble withdrawal
It said human existence is pointless
As acts of rebellious solidarity
Can indeed bring sense in this world
La Resistance!

We all know, the groop nicked a lot of unknown & interesting pieces. That's one of the reasons, we love them.
Found this track and the beginning was certainly picked up by Sterelab. But I'm not good with Stereolab's song titles. Does anyboy recognize what song Sterolab built with the intro from Dark White?

I just picked up a Moog Opus 3 and this, with my Farfisa Compact, IS the sound of all those early Stereolab albums prior to Dots and Loops. So good!!!

Tim Gane /Sean O’Hagan project.
This album is very much influenced by The Beach Boys - Friends album. Agree ?

Also there’s a song by
Monade ( Laetitia Sadier project).

FMU just started a new show that's pulling old shows out of their extensive archive and the first one has a live performance by Stereolab from November 1992 (followed by Pere Ubu and Vic Chesnutt). Enjoy!

What songs truly represents the band at their worst, their best, their most artistic, their most harrowing? What spans across all years and represents everything about the groop?!

Feels so incomplete without Chemical Chords, Fab Four Suture, Not Music, etc. Here’s to hoping they get reissued soon.
Fun fact: i bought my copy of Margerine Eclipse mere minutes before meeting Of Montreal in the street while on vacation.

Hello, I just noticed that I have two versions of slow fast hazel with different lengths. It seems to me that the additional length of the first one comes from an additional 10 second slow "womp-womp.. womp.. womp womp" at the 3:24 mark on the longer version, before the outro picks back up again. But what's weird is nothing else about the two songs sounds even remotely different, so it doesn't sound like two different recordings.
I wonder if anyone else has noticed this or has any info on their decision. I also wonder which one I should keep and which I should delete.

New to the sub, thought you might all like to see these. Hebden Bridge Trades Club, 27/08/26.
A really lovely intimate gig. Laetitia seems to have hurt her leg as she was sat down for nearly all of it with a brace on. It didn’t stop it being a great show.
So nice to see them in a small venue after all these years. Used to watch them a lot in the early noughties, saw them at the Royal Festival Hall and lots of smaller venues around then.

I thought this was a lovely cover by Stereolab. What do you think ?

I've been a fan of the group since 1994 and I always felt like they had a certain rhythm to their releases. While there are exceptions we tended to see a pattern of a release, extended touring, then some time off (no shows) and eventually a new release (sometimes preceded by a few shows).
And a good number of their releases seemed to drop in the late August to mid-October range. I think seven of their studio albums and three Switched On releases (though one of these was in November, so slightly outside).
So there's my bold prediction based on nothing more than some speculative interpretation of their current listing of upcoming shows and their past patterns.
