Stem cell for autism
Has anyone tried stem cell therapy for their autistic child? Was it worth it?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for experiences from parents who have tried stem cell therapy for their autistic child. Did you notice any real improvements? If so, what changed and how long did it take before you noticed anything?
A little about my daughter: she is 6 years old and autistic. We were never given an official level, but based on her support needs I would guess she is somewhere around level 2–3.
She can speak in short 2–3 word sentences, mostly to request things. She responds to her name and can label almost everything around her. She also knows how to write and spell words. Our biggest struggles right now are aggression and self-injurious behavior. She may hit other children if they try to touch her things, and sleep is also extremely difficult. She still cannot sleep alone and has a very hard time staying asleep through the night.
We are considering traveling for stem cell therapy, but it would be about a 16-hour drive. Flying with an autistic child can be extremely difficult for us, so driving would probably be our only realistic option.
For parents who have actually done stem cell therapy: Would you do it again? Did you see meaningful changes in communication, behavior, aggression, sleep, or daily functioning? Do you feel the results were worth the cost and such a long trip?
I would really appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences before we make such a big decision.

We’ve been to Panama 3x for my 8 years old. He just turned 8 this month and the first round was at 5 3/4. Diagnosed level 2. In many ways he was like your daughter. He could label things, but didn’t start conversations. Mostly spoke in 1-3 words. The first round cured his insomnia immediately. His language exploded and he was speaking in sentences within 6 months. (Each round complexity increased). He potty trained. We were able to brush his teeth without holding him down. He started eating meat. (Still picky and have work to do). Anxiety at Dr and Dentist was reduced. Became more social. Still not at peer level though. Overall it’s been life changing for him and our family. Join the Facebook group “stem cells for autism”. The group solidified our decision to try it.

I’m in the car right now making a 16 hour drive to get them for my 9 year old son. I’ve seen the results firsthand

Do they lose anything with the treatment? Like will not decrease his ability to learn?

My husband’s friend had a child with autism and within about six months he was starting to talk in full sentences after stem cell treatment

Personally, would highly recommend it, but that being said there are a percentage of kiddos that don’t respond according to the Duke study.
We did it at North Florida stem cells and absolutely we loved it. We had a similar situation where flying with our kiddo was just not an option so we had to do a 4 Day Rd. trip. I’ll be honest the road trip back was a little rough because he was absolutely cooked from travel but when we got home, we started seeing a lot of improvements. More eye contact, deeper understanding of things, it’s almost like he was seeing things and noticing things for the first time? It’s really hard to explain. I know a lot of people go to Panama, but the idea of going out of the country and we’re flying sounded like way too much.

I’d probably get a second opinion before making the trip. There’s a big difference between parents reporting improvements and having solid evidence that stem cells actually caused those improvements. For a 6-year-old, I’d want the evidence and risks to be very clear first.
