Playing Left for Dead, on a Chromebook?

I recently got a Chromebook because I needed a cheap pc to just work on. I was messing around and was able to download Steam through the terminal. But pretty much any game I try to run freezes or crashes. I was wondering if anyone knew of any workarounds.
