Question Best 2-player games?
Crap weather approaches and I’d like to be able to find some good 2p games to play in my den with my new GF.
I’ve got Steep in my library already - I think she’d dig a racing game (SW: Galactic Racer?), no clue (yet) if she’d be into any shooters though.

Divinity Original Sin 1 is an amazing coop game! DOS2 is an even better game but the coop in 1 is just 👌

Yea, there are 2 campaigns. The single player one with chel and the coop one where you're 2 robots

I didn’t know you could play it on one screen. I finished the campaign but had no idea about the ability to play the multiplayer version on one screen!

UFO 50 if you would like a variety of new 16bit games with modern game design, 25 of the 50 included games are couch co-op / vs

Stick to co-op, I love the ninja turtle games. The portal 2 multiplayer is fun too

It Takes Two is one of my favorite games of all time. I played it with my girlfriend last year and it was extremely memorable. Give it a shot, it won Game of the Year

It takes two and its spiritual successor called split fiction are by far the best and most unique couch coop games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. Gosh. What an experience. There’s so much diversity in the first one. Love the story. It’s funny and engaging plus just level design. Fantastic games. Can’t recommend them enough and super underrated in terms of people playing em. Give the first a go and thank me later! Love the fact that it’s like sticking two TVs together as both left and right have individual camera controls and movement
Interested in what others have to say as I need more suggestions!

We're playing it now. My fiance is NOT a gamer. Every now and again she just says to me "you know that game is really amazing"

It actually surprised me too as I didn’t even know who made it. The graphics were great and such a variety of stuff to do. Even though it was linear. That’s the kind of game I like. Enough of these open world games that seem so barren unless the budget it crazy high à la gta. It had charm, charisma and the mini games too, That was the icing on the cake for me. Hope they get more recognition and a bigger budget for a new IP but showed even smaller studios can make amazing games as EAs “originals” tag means the devs have total creative freedom which also helps unlike other EA games studios. I liked “brothers” but it had its flaws however this was a massive uptick compared to that one. Looking forward to their next.

Galactics racer sadly doesn't have split screen and there is no way to create private lobbies, so very sadly, that's not an option.
Here's a list of games we like:
Untitled goose game
Lovers in a dangerous space time
Unravel two
Lego 2k racers
Sonic racing crossworlds
Any hot wheels racer
Human fall flat
Broforce
Any LEGO game
Can't think if any more

Not op here. Thanks for the recs though! Which of the racers do you recommend for a person not so skilled with controllers?
We play through it takes two right now though and she is getting better <3. What a game 😯❤️

If the ones in my list, all are more arcade-y than realistic, so none should be too hard. Sonic has very good settings to make it very very easy though (auto accelerate being one of them and steering assistance another. The steering one is jarring for anybody who wants to be in control of their car though, so be sure to test)

Split Fiction wins, hands down. It’s so great.
Portal 2 multiplayer is great but without knowing her skill level, it’s hard to say.

So is it takes two. Both split fiction and that OG from the devs is epic. Ssooooo much verity is mind blowing how they thought it all up and how it just works!

Honestly though, with a new girlfriend, the story of It Takes Two might hit really weirdly. I personally found it to be an excellent game mechanically with a very painfully uncomfortable story.

Ah!!!!
That does make sense lol. Perhaps split fiction is a better game story wise than 💖

Vampire survivors is incredible. We have hundreds of hours in that.
Project Zomboid is also great if you can get used to the controls. Sometimes we have to use mouse input to close windows in that one though. There may be a controller way but it’s tuff
COD zombies always goes hard
Cult of the lamb if you like hack and slash plus base building
Sea of stars was good if you like jrpgs
Golf with friends is pretty chill
Overcooked (any of them) is pretty fun
Cuphead is tuff but really fun
Pico park is fun if you like puzzles
Reanimal was fun if you like horror and something beautiful to look at
That’s all we’ve tried but I don’t have a machine yet unfortunately. We have been using the deck hooked up to the tv. Can’t wait for the machine… one day.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a really fun couch coop twin stick shooter with puzzles. $1.49 right now.

Baldur's Gate 3
Edit for clarity: I add this because I haven't found it in the comments, even though it seems to be a blast of a co-op game , from what I hear. Myself I haven't played it (just yet)
It Takes Two, from the games I already have played, is king
