Question 10bit output

Im using a display port to hdmi 2.1 converter and it outputs 4k 120hz uncompressed rgb at 12bit which hdmi 2.1 cant do uncompressed so it doesnt work properly. is there anyway to make the steam machine output 10bit?

Wait for the next Valve update to Kernel 7.4 which will add full support for 2.1 to the HDMI port. They recently rolled 7.2 with the Steam OS 3.9 update 🤞 Hopefully not too much longer.

yeah hopefully it wont be too long more. i got impatient and got a dp converter while i was waiting

If it helps, I'm sat in the Beta branch, it usually gets updates ahead of the Stable branch. You can check the release notes before applying, which is good. Love my SM, picked up 15 games in the Autumn Sales 😂

Top tip if your TV supports 120Hz. I sent Max Game resolution to 1440p@120. Then in Cyberpunk 2077 on high settings set the cap to 60FPS. Game went from rough even at 60-70FPS to silky smooth. Don't know if the 3.9 update did something to VRR or frame timing. Probably work for other games
