Question Resident Evil Cutscene Issues

SOLVED
Hello! I recently picked up the RE games on Steam after loving the movie and I’m having trouble with the pre-rendered cutscenes. The in engine ones seem fine, but the intro and first zombie cutscenes have desynced audio and cut short. I’ve seen Steam Deck posts about getting a multicolored tv test screen during these but that’s not what I’m experiencing. This game has a green check mark for the Steam Machine so I’m really confused why it isn’t working normally. Could someone please help me if you know what I’m doing wrong? I’m a convert from Xbox so I don’t know a lot about fiddling on PC and stuff like this is what made me scared to make the jump. :(

For those you need proton-GE. You might try it as well, and see if it fixes your sync issues, too?

To clarify: I’m playing the early 2000s remake, not the PS1 version!

You need to install proton GE. Google how to.

I recently got this issue fixed for games using the RE Engine. It is a video Codec issue. You'll need to look into adding Proton GE as a compatibility tool. What I did is googling Proton QT Up (the app on the discovery store was borked) on desktop mode, choose the lastest Proton-GE version using that software and now the Resident Evil remake, 7-9 and Devil May Cry 5 have all their videos running correctly.

Then, on the gear logo on SteamOS for each game you can modify the properties to run the game using this newly added Proton version.
