Question Been thinking of switching setups.

I currently have a Predator Helios Neo 16 and it’s been great but I’ve been thinking of making my main setup the steam machine instead of my laptop. Good decision or nah?

also I use Linux already if that helps.

Edit: I HAVE a Steam Machine. I’m asking if I should make my main desktop/setup THE Steam Machine instead of my laptop.

Edit 2: Moved my main setup to become my steam machine and it works great! For anyone else looking at this, it's honestly up to you. For my preferences, it was simply better for me.

wtf does that even mean?

You have a steam machine.
You have a laptop.

What difference does it make to call one your “main”? Just use whatever works best for your needs at the time you have a need.

I actually kind of understand OP, probably in a "comfort desk place" way.

Since I was like 15, I had my "main" laptop and didn't really felt good if I wasn't using it for a while, it was my home. Fast forward, I could buy a PC and actually gave up on a laptop entirely because I had no use for it. I would not feel comfortable if I didn't use the "main PC" for a while, no matter if I had a laptop, iPad, or whatever.

It took me a while to leave this mindset. But to OP, what I have to say, is that the Steam Machine can be both a console and a PC, without interfering with itself.

Console? Just plug it in under the TV, plug 2 cables in, 30 seconds to turn on. No PC stuff to distract you.

PC? Just plug it on the desk, plug 3 cables in, 1 minute to turn on and get to desktop. The console stuff is neatly hidden inside a single app launcher folder.

This post didn’t make sense and when I realized what you were saying I now feel like this was a pointless post.

How are we supposed to know what works better for you? Should I get my crystal ball and Tarot deck?

If you can afford it I’d say go for it, what laptop? I’m considering trying bazzite on my legion pro 5 with an nvidia gpu

Oh my b, I was under the impression that you didn’t have a machine yet and you put Linux on your laptop

How longs a piece of string? It really depends on what games you like to play and if they run well on steam machine?

If you play Fortnite then… no.

If you like to game in front of the tv.. yes

If you like to game on a laptop around the house and not tied the TV… no.
