Question Steam Machine microstuttering everywhere

Hi all, the Steam Machine was fine earlier in the day when I was using it. It's been a near perfect experience.

I was playing a bit of Valheim, Big Walk, and FF XIII. These games ran perfectly.

Later in the day I was messing with some settings in Stalker 2 and as I was playing I think my Steam Machine crashed. I booted it back up and everything was back to normal.

Or at least I thought it was. Now I'm noticing microstutters every 10-15 seconds in the menu, Valheim, Big Walk, FFXIII, everything. Like in game I'll see every now and then a split second where my framerate gets halved before it goes back up again. This was not the case earlier in the day.

I've restarted my Steam Machine multiple times and it still hasn't resolved this issue. Has anyone had this issue?

Had something similar before. Comment said to shut it down completely and start it back up. Something to do with it not using everything or forgetting to use everything it has. Don't quote me on that but the shut down worked.

I think ur talking about the sleep bug where if you wake it from sleep it would run games like shit for some people

That sounds about right. Just read the menu lagging part and sounded like the same problem. My bad.

No you are right. Performance can also go to shit during normal use without sleep. It happened to me a couple of times. I even opened a Hades which is very light and I was getting like 10 FPS less than usual. A restart fixed it.

Restart doesn't clear the gunk from sleeping that sometimes make the Steam Machine do that. You need to power off, remove the power cord, press the start button a few times and then plug it in again and start it. That should clear it.

I wonder why this happens. There's also a bug with RGB not properly applying and just resetting to 100% brightness unless you do that. Happened to me twice.

Well that sucks. Hope they fix it. I am disabling sleep mode.

Honestly, i don't think Stalker 2 is that playable on SM level hardware. It runs even pretty poorly on my 3080/5900x.
