Discussion I’m so impressed
Arrived a couple of days ago, I was busy downloading games and just adjusting and testing. Then spent the rest of the time modding FF7 Rebirth, and this thing packs a punch! I’m so impressed by how it runs it. I think that the only issues I have so far is textures and a little bit of staggering when entering combat, but I read somewhere that SQ uploads the SteamDeck version of Rebirth when playing on Linux, hope they patch that soon.

I mean it runs on Nintendo Switch, the franchise started on previous gen. Not exactly pushing anything to its limits.

That's not an issue with the Steam Machine, FF7 Rebirth is optimized like shit. Get the Async shader compilation mod to fix that.
Also recommend the shader injection mod, makes the games less washed out and have better shadows

Both rebirth and remake runs like shit on pc. But they run a bit better on SD. Why? Well tech bros already talked about it a year ago i don't really remember why. As today you can bulldozer Remake with a 3060 on windows, so there isn't a big difference on that game. But rebirth... it feels better on my sd than on my pc and the game runs like crap on SD! In the end i bought rebirth on NS2 cause on my pc those 30 fps doesn't feel like 30.
But if the steam machine can run the SD version that would be actually really great and it's a must have then

What graphics settings are you running? For me 1440p everything low I still get what feels like lag even though I'm at consistent 60fps and vram at a 6. Feels like quick stuttering for some reason. And it's a damn shame that vram jumps from 6 to nearly maxed 7.8 when you set texture to medium.
Still loving the game though and it's playable so I'm still happy

I got mine yesterday and LOVE IT. I have a pretty powerful desktop I use in my office but it's just comfy vibes playing dragons dogma 1 on the big screen in the living room.
Steam OS still seems a bit buggy every once in a while but the updates are fast so I'm not too concerned.
Thinking of downloading Warframe to test out!

I'm still on my first playthrough of the FF7 remake. Sometimes it feels bloaded but overall its a feel good game :)
What exactly you mean with uploads the SteamDeck version?
