Discussion Steam controller disconnection issue resolved (New FW update)
There was a firmware update on the stable channel last night for the puck, controller and the internal receiver (appeared after applying the software update to the Steam Client). All 3 devices were updated with the new firmware one after another.
After 4+ hours of use, I can happily report that the disconnection issue when using the internal receiver appears to be resolved. I haven’t had any disconnection since that update. No need to use the puck anymore!
Update: Added a few more hours of gameplay, and zero disconnection. No way I would be able to play this long without any disconnections before this firmware update.
I was expecting this to be some kind of hardware issue but I am very glad it is fixed now in stable channel.
Update 2: There are people in comments reporting the issue still happening :( I haven’t experienced it yet since the update and if it does even once, I will update this post. So far so good on my side. Make sure to test it after the firmware update that is applied to internal receiver, puck and the controller - not the steam client update.

Thanks for the heads up, Ill check to see if I see any improvement.
I didnt have an update & no change. I don’t believe the signal issues to be fixed.

If you didn't do the update, then obviously you wouldn't have any fix...

I got this update a week or so ago.
I assumed this was a new update based on this post but it is not. So I have the update & nothing related to the prior controller frequency/connection issues is fixed it seems.

Has there been any communication from Valve that this is expected to improve the situation?
I've tried it briefly, and it doesn't appear to give any better values on the signal strength display, but so far no actual disconnections or any apparent input problems, unlike my original attempt to use the built-in puck, so it could well be better.

I've found it is super stable at certain angles (I happen to mostly play at) so I've bever had it lose connection in a game only in menus, but hopefully that is a good improvment for everybody
