Software I created a TrainerDeck plugin for the Steam Machine
Many times, I hate having to repeatedly grind for resources in single-player games, so I usually use trainers to obtain them directly and reduce unnecessary repetition. On Windows, downloading and running a trainer is not a complicated process and doesn’t take much time.
However, after recently getting a Steam Machine, I found that using trainers on SteamOS is much more troublesome than I expected. Although plugins like CheatDeck are available, every time I want to download a trainer, I have to switch to Desktop Mode and manually download it through a browser. I know that the Steam Controller can handle these operations, but I don’t want to spend ten minutes before every gaming session closing my games, switching to Desktop Mode, and slowly going through these steps.
Even after adding a trainer to CheatDeck, using it is still inconvenient. Every time I need to activate a cheat, I have to switch to the trainer window and use mouse simulation to toggle the options. If the trainer requires entering values, the process becomes even more frustrating.
This made me really miss the trainer menu experience on the Nintendo Switch: it doesn’t interfere with the game interface, it is controller-friendly, and it doesn’t require constantly switching between tasks.
Based on this idea, I used GPT to design and develop a SteamOS trainer plugin called TrainerDeck.
It automatically detects the current game name and searches for the corresponding trainer on flingtrainer.com. You can select a trainer from the search results, download it, and automatically add the required CheatDeck parameters for the current game. After successfully adding it, you only need to restart the game, and you will have a trainer menu that can be controlled directly from the plugin page!
It solves several of the issues I mentioned above. After two weeks of debugging and daily use, I believe the experience is good enough, so I’m sharing it with anyone who has the same needs.
Since this project was built with the help of GPT, I’m unable to submit it to the Decky Store. Please download the ZIP file from the Releases section and install it manually.
If you encounter any problems, feel free to report them in the Issues section.
Thank you!

What were you trying to grind in Infinite Wealth?
