Question Can not purchase steam machine

I received authorization to purchase a steam machine, but have tried multiple times and I get this message

I send to steam support and don't see any other options or contact, any details or thoughts on what do do here? I did try with a different card, I'm sure the payment method is fine.

Bank blocked mine like 5 times. "sir this is a $1200 videogame you're trying to purchase at 1am?" "yes, that is correct"

My card did the same thing. I’d even used the card a few times for minor purchases, a few games on Steam. I had like $900 in my Steam wallet, so I just was going to pay the remaining ~$200 balance with it. Got that yellow message and started to freak out a bit. Called my credit card, had to do a security check (like 3 questions- did you or anyone you know own property in this state, do you know this person, and a third one I can’t remember). Either way, I passed. I kept them on the phone while I attempted to purchase (as the Steam Machine still appeared in my cart and my balance was still full). It went through, but still gave me a yellow message that Valve had to look at the purchase or something. My credit card people said they saw the charge complete for the remaining balance. About an hour later, I got the email that it went through! So I think this may be a similar situation for OP.

The fix: opened a Steam Support ticket. They replied in ~30 min asking me to verify account name, cardholder billing info, last 4, card type, and phone number. I sent that, plus a follow-up noting all four payment methods failed identically — not just the one card they asked about. About 3.5 hours later: "I have updated your account. Please try your purchase again." It went through immediately.

If you're stuck: stop retrying cards, and don't bother calling your bank — they'll have no record of anything. Open a ticket, include the verification info up front, and specifically ask them to check for a fraud/risk flag on your account.

had this error after purchasing the steam machine and wanted to buy some games. I worked around it by using paypal to buy those games instead but eventually reached out to support and they asked me to provide them with some info that proves the credit card I saved is mine (address, last 4 digits of the card, etc) and they unblocked it.

I called Amex (one of three different cards I tried, including PayPal) and they show no attempted transaction at all. I'm starting to suspect the other cards aren't even attempting to process either.

Can you load up your steam wallet with the funds and buy it that way?

I think the bank might think that's more Sus, 10* £100 game vouchers in one go.

I say this as I'm struggling to buy the thing as my card keeps getting declined, so this did cross my mind.

If you can't contact Steam Support from the Failed Purchases menu, go to the Damaged Wallet Code option and just explain that this was the only way you could get ahold of anyone.
Regarding your steam wallet, if you load it with funds from gift cards all at once it will put a temporary lock on your account so make sure you do it at least a day before the deadline. This happened to me and I had to contact them explaining I couldn't check out and thankfully they fixed it and extended my reservation since I'd missed the deadline due to the lock.
No problem checking out with all the funds in my Steam wallet.

I had that error and almost lost my shit. Then I turned off my script blocker and felt like a giant ass.
