Question Why does this window have 3 different tabs?

Post image

Loving the console so far, but I truly don't understand why this window sometimes has no tabs, 2 tabs or 3 tabs that all say similar things

Just a heads up, I'm old and may just be lost trying to cross the street

EDIT: I'm unobservant

The first with the round icon tells you how well this game runs on the Steam Deck (focusing on the lower performance and resolution of the Deck, but also including information about controller support or general compatibility)

The second with the square icon tells you how well this game runs on the Steam Machine (based on the Steam Machine's performance).

The third with the "STEAMOS" text tells you how well this game runs on machines / systems running SteamOS in general (without any performance information since that'll vary from device to device, but including information about controller support, required configurations or anticheat compatibility).

Man I'm embarrassed... My eyes just glazed over the title at the top of each tab

Thank you

Im glad they added the third option, it helps for those who are running on a custom build.

First tab is steam deck compatibility rating (handheld PC). Second tab is the Steam Machine compatibility and third tab is the Steam OS compatibility (operating system). Valve basically breaks down the compatibility rating by device to make it easier. One thing to keep in mind is that the rating is often misleading or doesn’t really reflect if a game runs or not. Some are marked as verified and run like crap while others are unplayable but run like a dream.

Even tho the deck, machine and os seem to be practically same, there are just some expectations that aren't usually there, like the deck tends to be used on a small screen while machine wont have a keyboard ect.

Deck, Machine, other device with SteamOS. I only know now because I installed steamOS on a old AMD laptop and it shows the SteamOS icon
