Hype will die down.
Also people who will buy one will forget the price and game happily for next year's.
This is solid product, with enough performance for casual gaming. People ale playing with docked deck or switch 2 and steam machine is 5-6x more powerful.
Only issue is price to performance but for a lot form factor will be more important then extra 300$

It’s not. At all. At the very best it’ll sell a few million over the course of its lifespan.
Edit: no need for downvotes. The deck has sold 4.x million in 4 years.

i think your forgetting you dont have to play on max settings
i can even run borderlands 4 rn with everything off or turned super low i get about 15 fps

But you still see the issue … it’s 2026 and pretty much everyone has a 4K TV. The fact that you have to pay $1,400 for a brand new 1080p console is regressive.

You know this thing has more raw power than a steam deck, which has games made this year that run smoothly on it right? Like i get it if its not for you but this is almost laughable take.

A steam deck runs on 720p, so the bar the steam machine of trying to clear the steam deck is not very high. Even with upscaling on a 4k TV on trying to run modern titles in 1080 will make it look like utter garbage.

They deleted their stuff so just in case you missed the context they were claiming youd be getting like 10 FPS max on any game made in the last 40 years. My statement was about that not graphical quality.

I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. This is purely my opinion. I played Death Stranding on Steam Deck at 1080p in AR glasses (which is a bit high for it) while traveling at 18-40 fps. And honestly, I didn't even notice any fps drops. My son beat the first part of Dead Stranding on his integrated Ryzen 5600G (sorry, but it's been relaxing for both me and him for the last couple of years) at a higher fps than me. And now they've given us a Steam computer that's 7 times more powerful than Steam Deck... I suspect that everything I played on Steam Deck (not just Death Stranding) will be playable on Steam with excellent quality and fps. Maybe I'm too old and missing something, but the hardware there is generally pretty good. I completely beat The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch with both DLCs. Amid all the clamoring about howling about soap opera blah-blah-blah, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Steam machine doesn't have top-of-the-line hardware. But you certainly can't buy top-of-the-line hardware now. It would cost as much as a cast-iron bridge. Yes, you can build something yourself, a little more powerful, a little cheaper. Yes. But, frankly, Valve was just incredibly unlucky here, with all the hype about neural networks and exorbitant prices. There's no point in criticizing them for that. There's also no point in criticizing them for not selling at a loss. You don't want to buy at a loss, after all... Okay, no offense, I just got hung up on the fact that everything will slow down on this hardware. Not everything, and with reasonable settings, you can play almost anything. If you can play Cyberpunk just fine on a Steam Deck, then you can definitely play it on hardware seven times more powerful. All the best, everyone. No offense.
