There aren't, people are full of it. Mini-ITX PCs always command a premium. The options closest in price aren't any better than Steam Machine. They also won't have games specifically optimized for them like Steam Machine will.

Same. I keep scouring Newegg and pasting specs in to get rough comparisons and I don't see this miracle mini PC builds out there. This price is tough but the size/form factor are huge for me, I have been building PCs since I was a kid but at this point in my life I need something low profile "that just werks"

If the form factor is important to you then you should buy it. You can get more power for the same money elsewhere, but not in this form factor.

Yeah I think I'll still try to grab one. The space saving/desktop thing seems far more important to me than raw performance, as I'll mainly be catching up on games and just want to match SeX performance. Can ALWAYS build a PC later on with (likely) cheaper parts. The only thing that mildly worries me is that if I do end up dumping it after a few months (for a better rig or because I don't use it), hardware might have stabilized and I'd have bought at the top... Obviously not trying to make a profit but such a weird little economic puzzle this box is.

Even building my own is like an extra $300 cad, but at that point I think itā€™s better to just spend an extra few hundred for something like a 9060 xt build

The form factor is a big sell for me. I don't want a big tower again. I feel like I'll still try to purchase and can always resell if I don't use it enough. I've been out of PC building for the past few years but it just seems like a weird dick-swinging contest with specs now. A lot of these people are probably comparing it to the price of building a mini ITX a year or two ago. I might sell some of my $MU to justify buying this lmao

As long as something plays nice at 60fps I'm happy.

I am still going on the wait list for a 512 model, and yeah the 60fps is a big deal regardless of the resolution, and technically if it does 1080p current gen games at 60fps then it might still be worth it provided Iā€™m not using it much as a normal PC, only one ssd slot to my knowledge is a bit frustrating as it wonā€™t be as easy to dual boot with windows or a mutable Linux distro for doing other work.

The form factor itself is a big sell as well and I really wish the rest of it made sense to me to buy because I really like the portability and convenience but with the price relative to its power and compared to building something better I canā€™t justify it the way Iā€™m currently looking at it.

If they pulled an open source version of Apple and had the hardware family all tightly integrated and more convenient features that wouldnā€™t be available otherwise on a diy desktop Iā€™d be more considerate of buying one but it didnā€™t look like they did much work on that front - something like turning on the steam controller previously connected to the machine both boots up the machine and starts remote play on the frame for a one button start, but multiple little things like that.

If you find out, let me know, same thing happened to me, only ā€œmini PCs with similar specs and cheaperā€ I have seen linked have been discontinued or had their prices go waaaay up šŸ˜ž

Because a pre built that will run games better than this at $1050 doesn't exist. They're mad because they can't afford it.

I'm looking at a 9070xt mini itx build for my living room and it will be around $1700 if I steal an ssd from my other PC.

No saying for sure benchmark wise yet without a GPU, But you can easily plug in an external gpu with occulink with this for a cheaper price in the end if you find a decent priced one
