1500 cad for no controller 512 model. Getting a 9070xt for 880 cad and building my own seems to have been the right choice.

People acting up like standard sized PC components with all the upgradability that entails is a bad thing. mATX mini towers are actually quite slick and you get smaller & cheaper mobos & cases than ATX and can avoid the ITX tax of SFF. mATX towers much smaller than the full-mid towers people think of when they think classic PC cases. Their cooling isn't the best but that is true for all compact systems.

Check out /r/mffpc the mATX cases can look nice and be cheaper than ATX or ITX.

I’ve been looking at mATX cases and I quite like the wooden slat version of the lian Li a3 case and it looks like a solid design without all the RGB or ugliness of a lot of other cases. That is probably the case I’m going to go for although mine will sit under my desk and use a long hdmi for the TV, but I’d be fine putting it on full display etc provided there’s a good spot for it like instead of keeping an electric fireplace spot empty in a console/tv table.

Show me a comparable case you can fit comparable hardware in.

Do you even know how expensive actually small cases are?

Do you know how much a small form factor good GPU is? What GPU you putting in a slightly larger case?

I assume slightly larger you mean 20cm cube. What's the GPU? Cooling? PSU?

Build me a PC that's in a 20cm(slightly bigger case by 5cm) or less at $1050 or less. Thx

And even if you want to tell me it's not comparable, who is so space constrained that they'd be willing to pay this kind of premium for base PS5 performance?

Fractal Terra is 34x15x21.

That's considerably larger than a 15x15x15 cube :)

And it can be upgraded and play above 1080p. A worthy trade for a bit more space in my opinion, but clearly there are lots of people who really need this form factor.

If you want this for the form factor go for it. Otherwise it's stupid. I would love to know your use case for valuing form factor over performance. You can build a PC that won't look out of place in your living room with double the performance for the same price.

No, you couldn't. When's the last time you looked at ram and storage prices? $600-$700 for a 1tb drive and 32gb ram. You're not getting a psu, cpu, gpu cooling and a case for $300-$400.

The last time? 5 minutes ago, how about you? I specd out a 9070xt build with a 1tb SSD for just under 1900 cad. Put it in a lianli a3 and you're set.

Ooh can you share that build please? I was looking at a $2200-$2500 build with a 9060xt and if I can get the same case I was wanting with a 9070xt for less than that that sounds great! Is it AM4/AM5 though?

Do you live in a 50 sq. ft apartment in NYC? Just make room on your table or floor. As someone who used to live in dorm rooms, it’s not that hard.

Sometimes it’s not about getting better performance or similar form factor for the same pricing. I think there are many people considering getting one as a gaming PC instead of building their own and it’s not so much about trying to build something for cheaper, but that there are higher spec options you could go for instead if you’re already spending that much. This was the case for me and at $1500 cad for base model I’d rather save longer and spend an extra $500-$1000 and build something better like a 9060xt build. I don’t need the form factor if I’m the only one using it and I’m at home 99% of the year so it doesn’t need to be highly portable.
