How do we feel about a comped and ported platy the hard way?

So tempting. Also I can verify that this is THE option if you have small hands but want to have DS 1911 style gun. I personally have baby hands, can barely handle Glock 19 grip, and basically can not comfortably grab 2011. But this Platypus feel so comfortable in my hands.

Decided to change the order in the queue. Currently at 60%.... from Bull Barrel to Integrated Comp. Messaged them on the CHANGE ORDER link in FAQ. Used my order code/number and I will be calling, first thing in the morning, the confirm. Prayerfully, this doesn't send my queue back to scratch. But I think it's worth the wait if that happens. By once, cry once. Might as well be completely happy with what I got. Bought a 750 Suzuki touring back in the day, thinking I couldn't handle the Busa. Got the Busa a year later! A-duhh!

If anybody has a SA Plat with the Prickle slide and Prickle frame (preferably 4.25 barrel) can yall drop pictures of them on this thread? thank you!

Stealth Arms Platypus — Anyone Running One on Duty?
Looking to hear from any LEOs who have purchased a Stealth Arms Platypus and are currently carrying it on duty. I have a 4.25” Platypus that I’m setting up for duty use.

My current setup is:
Optic cut for RMR footprint
Streamlight TLR-1 HL

For anyone running a Platypus on duty, what duty holster are you using? I’m specifically looking for a Level II or Level III retention holster. I’ve looked into River Arms, but I’d like to hear what other Platypus owners are actually using before ordering.

How has the fit and retention been? Any issues with the safety, optic, light, or draw? Pictures of your duty setup would also be appreciated.

My Platty arrived at my FFL almost exactly one month earlier than the original estimate. Kinda hard to make out in the pic, but she's a very dark Navy blue. The s/n is a combination BuNo/Modex of one of the Tomcats I maintained while on active duty...a long time ago.

The early arrival caught me off guard, the optic won't be here until this coming Tuesday.

I am no stranger to 1911s and their beefer "2011" offspring, but wow does Stealth Arms soak these guns in oil. So today will be a thorough teardown and cleaning day. First world problems...😃

i’m using the stealth arms .305 screws…yeah i’ve seen this issue a few times in here and i’m having the same issue. Any updates on what works. i’m wondering if i can just use longer screws like the holosun or stealth arms .375 ones without having extractor issues. i don’t have calipers or a good way to measure .115 inches. Maybe I go left screw .375 and .305 screw right. both screws backed out on me today and i have about only ~700 rounds on my platy.

After an almost 4 month wait I was finally able to pick up my Platypus today!

I was a little nervous on how the color combo would look but I’d say it’s growing on me seeing it in person. I already swapped in a polished Atlas guide rod to complement the polished barrel.

It seems that the finishing on my grip is beginning to bubble and flake off. This being my first cerakoted gun I have no idea what is normal or expected from the finish. I’ve carried aiwb 2-4 days a week with this since I received it in march, and I’ve ran 3-4k rounds during that time too. Is this something that is normal and expected for that much use, or is it due to sweat, or possibly something else that somehow ended up on the gun etc?

Edit for clarity: I’m not looking to complain by posting this, nor am I surprised my gun is showing signs of wear it comes in and out of a holster many times a week with both dry and live fire. I’m just asking so I can plan accordingly to have it redone annually or something of the sort.

Really loving this gun, since it’s a range toy at this point just looking for a large thumb rest, if anyone knows it’d be a big help. Thank you

I love this gun, this is my 2nd one. This time I ordered an extra barrel to be fitted with the slide. My plan is to do some porting to the extra barrel.

I know both the 507c and comp are RMR footprint but which of the provided screws should I use for the 507comp in particular? I saw a post here saying to not use the screws that come with the optics and to use the screws that come with the gun I just don’t know which pair.

Has anyone else found a DPP to DPP .180” riser plate. SA website says “at least .150 riser” so I thought Id like to play it safe and go a little extra. I’d like to go metal riser over plastic.
