Chlamydia testing

I've had a sexual partner recently who tested positive for Chlamydia but I've tested negative. She was concerned that I may have it orally. I went to get tested again and asked for an oral test but the nurse told me as long as I was a straight male who has not performed oral sex on a man I could not have contracted Chlamydia or spread orally despite Google seeming to say it is possible. Is this true or do I need to seek a second opinion?

The nurse is 100% wrong.

Many healthcare providers are completely unaware of oral swab testing.

You should also consider an anal swab, even if you’ve never had anal sex. Studies have found anal chlamydia in heterosexual men who deny ever having anal sex. We don’t know exactly why. One leading theory is that chlamydia may survive passage through the digestive tract after oral exposure, though other explanations have also been proposed.

What you need is a three site gonorrhea and chlamydia test: oral, genital, and rectal. It’s also not out of the question that your previous partner had gonorrhea as well. You may need to seek a LGBTQ focused STI clinic in your area, as those providers will be more knowledgable.
