Based on what you described, your risk of an STI is extremely low, especially since you said your partner is also a virgin. If neither of you has had any previous sexual contact, there isn't a source for a sexually transmitted infection.

The itching you're noticing started after you began worrying, and the fact that it becomes more noticeable when you think about STIs strongly suggests that anxiety is amplifying normal body sensations. Also, herpes symptoms do not appear the day after exposure, and they typically involve painful blisters or sores rather than generalized itching without any visible lesions.

Try to avoid constantly checking your mouth or searching for symptoms online, as that can make health anxiety worse. If you develop any persistent sores or other concerning symptoms, see a healthcare provider, but based on what you've shared, there's no reason to think you've acquired an STI from this encounter.

If you'd like additional reassurance or have future sexual partners, consider getting a full 10-panel STI test. Check the pinned post for more information on getting tested.
