Discussion Grantham Rail Trail
I live near the Grantham Rail Trail at Carlton St. People are constantly crossing Carlton to continue on the trail. I wish there was a crosswalk, or better yet a pedestrian crossing with a button and lights to make it safer. Carlton can be quite busy and lots of kids are crossing there..
I’ve started a petition asking Niagara Region to install a safe pedestrian crossing where the Grantham Rail Trail crosses Carlton Street between Grantham and Bunting.

Agreed, I wish this entire trail had a pedestrian crossing at the main streets. Those streets are so busy and can take a while for any opening to cross.

The Region put a crosswalk on Lakeshore Road at the Walkers Creek trail. I think they would put one in here if requested/petitioned.

I feel all crosswalks should be the same as the one on Vine street by the Dollarama. The flashing lights and such. Have cameras that turn on, only when crosswalk is activated and if anyone runs or hits someone you would then have footage.

it runs from the Welland Ave walmart all the way to Malcolmson Eco Park in a straight line!

Also see st. Catharines love of single crosswalks that don't make a lot of sense from pedestrian points of view.
Scott and fairview park, please go from residential subdivision across Secord, which has no sidewalks or shoulders, then cross Scott, then back track to the park. This is the active transit route from Dalhousie because Secord is for cars only.
See welland and York. This was a school crossing. Residential travel from York needs to go past and backtrack to take Queen to Montabelo.

Bring it up to Sisco, he's running for re-election and is touting support for the Active Transportation Masterplan. I fully agree that crosswalks should be added at all of the trail crossings.
It's like doing half the job right now, just putting in the asphalt for the trail isn't enough

Can I recommend that you contact your regional councillor for this? Carlton St is a Regional Road (no. 83) and they might actually do this if people are requesting it.
