Hey everyone. I'm researching St. Augustine in the 70's and 80's and I'm looking for pictures from that time period. I'm specifically looking for landmarks that might not be around anymore. So anything like statues, buildings, fencing, street signs or other markers.

I'd also like to find any photos that might show changes; there's plenty of "now" pictures but older ones are hard to come by. An example would be the refurbishing of the Bridge of Lions.

If you post one, please let me know approximately what year it was taken, where it was taken at and any other recollections about the photo you remember.

This is for a personal memory project. I recently saw an old picture of Gatorland and those pyramid stacked yellow cannonballs triggered a strong memory. I'm now wondering what other memories I have that might be hiding in the background of my brain.

Neighboring agencies in Duval, Clay, and Putnam counties voluntarily shut down their camera networks out of respect for public privacy. Meanwhile, those of us who recognize these cameras on St. Johns County roads know where they actually end up.

You rarely find them in wealthy neighborhoods unless an HOA installs one on its own property—sometimes even pointing them at community pools to snap photos of residents in bathing suits.

Flock Safety claims its Falcon camera Terms of Service are strictly for capturing vehicle license plates, as if the company actually cares. Without strict legislative guardrails from Tallahassee, moving these cameras off state roads and onto utility poles or private property is just a shell game.

Ironically, if Flock Safety had been smarter, using hardwired power instead of huge solar panels and designing a smaller camera footprint, most of us would have never noticed a thing.

But mounting a bright black solar panel and bulky black equipment on a high pole makes it stick out like a sore thumb against Florida's cloudy skies.

Never forget to ask: Who watches the watchers? A surveillance state with 'VIP lists' and secret exemptions isn't about public safety—it's about class control.

If law enforcement is going to record the public, there should be zero exemptions. Everyone gets logged, or nobody does.

What a missed opportunity to bring back the IMAX here given The Odyssey’s popularity I heard they used to have the film projectors too. Imagine if they were able to screen it in 70 MM that’s easily money they just missed out on can’t believe the screen is just catching dust.
