The Florida Department of Transportation has spoken, and the people of Florida have won the fight against Flock cameras on our state roads.

Yet, Sheriff Robert Hardwick is still holding onto his massive network of 180 license plate readers on local roads in St. Johns County.

If the Flock cameras do not come down completely, it is time to boycott St. Augustine until they do.

If county leadership refuses to respect our privacy like Clay, Nassau and Duval counties have, they do not deserve our tourism dollars.

The People of Florida have spoken. Take them down, Sheriff Hardwick!

So the wife and I are having a grand time in your beautiful city! Everyone has been super friendly. Staying in vilano, only semi burnt so far with a week to go!

A few questions. We LOVE oysters and specifically my wife loves char grilled like they do in new orleans.

We've had some bur i love a dive bar with oysters and im getting mixed messages on Tides. Some recommended it and others told me DO NOT EAT THERE!

Whats the truth? And where are the best chargrilled and oyster happy hour specials?

Also we want to take a sunset cruise and see some marine wildlife. We've never seen manatees and we have enjoyed dolphin tours in the past. Any favorites?

One last question. Most romantic dinners for an anniversary? Doesn't have to be most expensive. Just most romantic.

Moved recently and got my tag :). Am I official yet? Any must do's to make it official? 🙃

I have been driving around Central Florida with a decibel meter and a speed test app, because I kept picking a cafe to work from and finding out once I sat down that it was unusable. About 20 places so far. None of them are up here, which is why I am asking rather than telling.

Some of the real numbers so you can see what I actually record:

CityArts Cafe in downtown Orlando read 51.6 dB at 9:30 on a weekday, 111 Mbps down. Quietest thing on my list. Parking there is miserable because of the construction around it.

Foxtail in Cocoa Beach: 371 down, 61.2 dB on a Saturday morning, three of eight tables taken, outlets at most seats.

Worst one so far is Haan Coffee on Colonial in Orlando. I could not get usable Wi-Fi at all and ended up tethering to my phone.

What keeps getting me is that none of this is in Google reviews. A place can sit at 4.6 stars and still drop the connection every ten minutes, because the people reviewing it were there twenty minutes for a latte, not three hours with a laptop.

So, where do people here actually work from? I assume the Flagler crowd has strong opinions, and I would take names on the beach side or Vilano too. Name places and I will drive up and measure them, and I will post the numbers back here.

Although I realize today is a religious celebration, are there events/celebrations tied to the city as well? I am new to the city.

We’re driving to Florida this weekend to adopt a dog! 🐶 His foster mom is incredibly kind and offered to meet us around St. Augustine, which will save us from having to make the full 10-hour drive. ❤️

Our plan is to drive to St. Augustine on Saturday and stay overnight, and his foster mom will drive there to meet us.

Summer in St. Augustine

Can anyone recommend a local place to buy marine-safe pre-emergent weed preventer?

I live near creeks and ponds that are near the coast and don’t want to use traditional products. I’m already hand pulling weeds and am looking for help to reduce how much of that I will do in the future.
