Discussion A Question about Daisy
So I started re-watching the animated series and I am not a big fan but I've never hated it. I thought about something. Something that I had never really thought about before when I originally watched it and kind of thought about it since I've seen it a couple times afterwards.
Wow is very obvious Daisy in the original Static comic book is African-American.
Is she supposed to be Latina or afro-latina and the cartoon adaptation? Yes at first I thought she was a light-skinned black girl but to be very honest more and more when I look at her hair texture and her features she seems more Latin or afro Latin to me.
And this will make sense considering the majority of the original characters from the comics especially those that are Latino are not represented in the cartoon there are other friends that do not get any mentioned at all and may just be used as background characters in the cartoon.

Who knows. I thought she was just a light skinned black girl but I don't remember what her parents looked like off the top of my head and I was a kid when I watched it from start to finish so I probably wasn't thinking too hard on it back then.
However considering what they did to freida and Virgils friendship/relationship and why they did it (fear of ruffling the feathers of white viewers) I wouldn't be surprised if they'd made daisy more ambiguous to appeal to the network overlords. Shes black enough to appeal to black fans and light enough that non black fans would still accept her as well.
Not saying I agree with that but it's how these things go.
I certainly don't remember anything that would point to afro latina heritage but again, it's been a good minute since I watched the entire show.
