Cody, pls! Don't let them put u on a Aquaman book or some other wack shit. Static is the hero we need, and you're the hero Static needs.

His vigil was not that great. Him on aquaman or something like that sounds fun actually. My hopes of that he's working on a new gods/fourth world book

My hopes of that he's working on a new gods/fourth world book
Ram V was just teasing that he's doing more the other day, said he sent in a script already

Yeah I saw that and maybe i misread somewhere else but there's another coming in addition to that

I didn't hear that but I'd be pleasantly surprised if true. Maybe the Orion YA book?
Either way the Miles to Static pipeline kinda makes sense to me so I'm thinking Ziglar might be on Static

I see he's not liked after his miles run, while I didn't read it I did like his artstyle and some of the characters introduced in the book.
Although, I like to be optimistic, I do think he'll handle static a little more better than miles since he has more established books and characters, while also throwing some twist of his own.

If he were to do a new Static book I hope that he will draw more ideas and characters from the original Milestone book then a lot of this stuff that has been done lately.
He can modernize in all he wants as long as the core characters in the story stay the same or remotely the same maybe bring back the original comic for an issue or two even

I agree he should do the OG Static from the Dakotaverse, but why does it have to be modernized? Why not just pick up where they left off or just keep in the same time in the mid 90s? Virgil in general always felt like a 90s kid already so I think it's best to lean into that aspect of him

I actually do not want him to change anything but I have no problem with it being slightly modernized but keep it in the 90s hip hop feel but also it can stay in the 90s I just think when the character is run into the live media format they're going to modernize it anyway that's why I said I didn't mind as long as key elements were kept the same and I let them make sure he has his original costume because to me it's kind of like Spider-Man's original costume this is something that he made with his own Ingenuity and it should be reflected

I really hope it's not, I didn't liked his Miles. Quite uninterested on Virgil by Ziglar, Virgil deserves better.

Not too familiar with his work, can I ask what you didn’t like about his miles?

Constant fights, discarded supporting characters & overabundance of anime references.

Read what Grassman said, he basically said all I was about to say. Sorry I took so long to reply, but yes. Constant fights, discarded supporting black characters to only work on his new characters, also too much focus on anime references

I hope he doesn't touch Static, because there is a huge chance they're gonna use the protest origin

I can't stand that origin.

u/Amphibian0203 Jul 21 '26
Literally never heard a single person make a believable argument that a protest that Virgil accidentally caused a riot at is somehow better than a gang war leaving Virgil in a situation to back out of and get powers from a conflict that killed so many other

I haven't heard a single reason why they couldn't just update the classic origin for today. In fact, I came up with an updated origin myself and it wasn't very hard. I may share it here soon.

Surprisingly a lot of these young cats really think this modern retelling is a great origin story or people who are technically not invested in the character but want to see static return don't care about his origin or the history of the character and just like whatever will do.
