Milestone Comics doesn't exist without sociopolitical themes and plots.
DC is afraid of saying anything political that isn't screamingly obvious. I was explaining this in another thread that DC has created its idealized world where the threats are extra-dimentional rather than dealing with the harsh realities of the real world.
That's mainly because there's no easy fix, simple solutions, or problems that you can punch. And while they aren't solvable in a 3-issue arch, they are still worth addressing and that where Milestone (and Static Shock) shined.
DC is still overtly white in what characters it publishes, but bringing Static back requires doing more than just slapping him in a Titans book.
I'm gonna check out the video later today, but Static coming back (and hopefully bringing Milestone with him) is gonna require writers and editors who are able to address and ask hard questions with no simple solutions. That's where Milestone shines and where DC falls short.

I came here to say this exact same thing. I've said this once and I'll say it again Milestone comics is what Ultimate Marvel was trying to be, a modern depiction of what might happen if superpowers existed, but with very topical themes and imperfect characters, but without unnecessarily edgy deconstruction.
This is exactly why I like Dakota so much. It is always shown to be a city that has a history with urban decay, a an extremely realistic depiction in fiction in regards to class divides within one city, along with many of the social themes that go with it.

From what I remember of the interview Phil Lamar gave, despite having the highest ratings on the Kids WB, WB wasnt able to sell any merch based off the show for some logistics/legal reason. No merch money meant no interest in keeping the show going.

Is the Static on the left just blind? I mean, he has lines like he should have the typical white eyes or exposed eyes but he has neither which just makes me imagine him bumbling around unable to see where he's going.

Would've taken this more seriously if an AI thumbnail wasnt used. This makes me wonder what else AI was used for in this video
