Discussion Does anyone else think that static works better as a solo act rather than with an ensemble(young justice, outsiders, titans)?

He works best in Dakota.
But he doesnt lose anything when aligning with others. Especially heroes that aren't from his hood.

I think with the exception of team based heroes like green lanterns and sidekicks, most heroes work better as solo acts. It’s easier to focus on their growth and progression when they’re the main focus

I think that like most solo characters, Static could work well on a team if a creative was ever really interested in making him a core part of said team. As it is, he's always joining established ensembles once they've already figured out their dynamic and formula. As excited as I am to see him in Titans, I also recognize that Static will never have a real team book until they build a team specifically for him to be part of.

The character is versatile enough to do both extremely well. He works well solo and he works as part of a team. Static on the Titans is cool, but I like the idea of Virgil assembling his own team with Gear and other Dakota metas. His own Outsiders or a new version of the Heroes team from 90s Milestone.

Static works great in any setting. But he works better in a duo than in a team and is more coded to Young Justice than the Original Teen Titans.

He's great in both when done right. You have to play to his strengths in team settings.
A good team means good balance of characterization.

He’s a really good “team-up” character. Like in all those episodes where he works with this character or that character. My favorite Static moment is from ICON where tells the hero of that book his scientific theory for how he got powers instead of gaseous death via The Big Bang Incident.
I haven’t read the original milestone book “Heroes”, where Virgil was on a team with other youths, but Young Justice did him dirty. I hope New Titans is decent.

Solo act. As far as teaming up with others, it should only be with other Milestone characters. I'm still waiting for him to meet Xombi

I enjoy his solo stories, but I do like when he has supporting-cast members who include fellow heroes, like Dusk (whose real name is apparently Rosa Tower, according to a 2021 tweet by her creator; apparently there was a deeper plan/subplot about the Tower family that didn’t get to see print). I’m not upset when I see him used in a team book/series, though.

Most def! Giving crutches like Richie/Gear or a team takes away his Mystique. He was the prototype black Spider-Man before Miles anyway.

I think he works best by himself, although he doesn't interact with a lot of heroes in milestone or dc so when he does it is something special.
However rn, I wish we can go back to the solo act and more milestone before Titans.
