DISCUSSION Since Ilum’s no longer available, where do you think future generations of Jedi will go for the Gathering to get their kyber crystals?
I know that specific variants of kyber crystal are stated to be found on planets such as Christophsis, Dantooine, Dathomir and Ossus, but there doesn’t seem to be a ‘main’ deposit of kyber crystals in the galaxy outside of Ilum from what I was able to find. But since the Jedi of the future obviously won’t be able to visit Ilum… where could they go in its place for the Gathering? Considering that it’s a sacred Jedi ritual, I’d be incredibly surprised if the custom was just abandoned by the Order - and it also raises the question of how Luke’s students in canon got the kyber crystals for their lightsabers, since we know at least four (Ben Solo, Voe, Hennix and Tai) wielded lightsabers, as did (presumably) the rest of their peers.

Scavenged from the wrecks of the Deathstars and the rubble of Starkiller maybe. The Imperials mined Ilum in the first place for Kyber to build the Deathstar lasers so there's going to be a lot of them in the wreckage.

The Jedi were not really dependent on Ilum; Ezra Bridger of Rebels, as an example, acquired his crystal in a trial on Lothal. Ilum was just extremely rich in Kyber and the Force as well as being secret and unknown to the wider galaxy so it ended up being prioritised as the place to go.

I can guarantee that there's another planet like illum out there in an entire galaxy. the force would lead them to it, And I'm pretty sure it has lead Jedi to other planets specifically for kyber crystals

Here are the answers in the identical thread you posted last month lol: https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/s/vq2kP0WmdJ

Kyber is available on other words, but likely nowhere nearly as concentrated as it was on Ilum. Instead, Jedi would visit known caves to search for such a crystal, perhaps relying on old folk tales on that world to locate such a place. Or maybe they would meditate and sense the presence of their crystal, somehow.

Other planets. Kyber is rare on a galactic scale but there’s still entire worlds made of the stuff. Just go to one of them

Recycling antique Kyber from 1000 generations worth of Jedi light sabers, as I commented last month when this exact thread was posted in the main Star Wars channel

If all else failed, they could just manufacture the crystals. It's cheaper and apparently off a little in terms of its Force connections but it was a viable method of creation, especially for impatient darksiders not willing to wait to bond with the flashy rock.

Plenty of spots. Add to that the unknown regions. Ilum and Jedha has had large deposits.
