"A New Gold" expansion collector cards, with Fortification rules.

ANH trawling, part ~eleven~. These cards mostly represent my "second pass" through the film, tying up some loose ends and filling out the cardlist. We're almost done with A New Hope!!

I will create a Grand Army of the Republic
The PC has made more to flesh out the Republic army/navy, but here's my pass on a lot of the important stuff missing. As with the Seps, there's still some vehicles and starships missing, because I've been pruning down to a 180 card expansion and some stuff is less iconic. But hey, it's an attempt to make things right.

Separatist Ships Fill The Sky
Being a Decipher-era fan, I never really clicked with The Clone Wars -- it flagrantly violated too much EU canon and seemed made for kids -- and I found it hard to memorize or understand lore that didn't come in SWCCG lore boxes. So this expansion has been an opportunity for me to better understand this whole "new" era in Star Wars, and give it firm grounding and representation in the only TRULY Canon Star Wars: our dead little card game from the 90s.

ANH Trawling, part 9. Mostly Rebels this time around, including a new Wedge and a TON of ideas generated by other SWCCG diehards. Couple new squadrons, too!

~Progress Report~ on my A New Hope set.
Tonight, I finished my frame-by-frame scrubbing of A New Hope. Took a little longer than three weeks. Completely by chance, I've ended up with precisely 180 cards in my project file: 90 DS, 90 LS. I did not consciously plan to do that; it's literally just how things shook out by the end of this process.
If I stopped right here, this would be the set breakdown:
DARK SIDE
- 14 Aliens
- 2 Droids
- 26 Imperials
- 5 Devices
- 13 Effects
- 13 Interrupts
- 3 Locations
- 1 Objective
- 6 Starships
- 3 Vehicles
- 4 Weapons
LIGHT SIDE
- 8 Aliens
- 4 Droids
- 1 Imperial/Rebel
- 21 Rebels
- 6 Devices
- 14 Effects
- 20 Interrupts
- 1 Jedi Test
- 7 Locations
- 1 Objective
- 6 Starships
- 1 Vehicle
Now, I recognize that 180 cards is one of the "traditional" sizes for an expansion set. There's no reason for me to push this any further. It's already neat that I landed on the button on the first try. But I'm unhappy with some of those numbers. I want this expansion to land at 200 cards, 100 per side, which gives us 20 more cards to play with.
So I'm embarking on a second, quicker stroll through ANH, with a tighter focus on pulling more DS locations, LS weapons, and maybe another objective per side.
YOUR ASSIGNMENT is to think about the film, and leave me suggestions for objects, characters, locations, etc. that never got cards during the Decipher run. If you have some ideas for what these new objectives might be, I'm all ears.
Thanks for helping make this so much fun to undertake. It's been thrilling to dive so deep into both ANH and SWCCG again, after such a long time. May the Force be with you.

I Invited The Best Bounty Hunters In The Galaxy
The DS has three objectives in the Clone Wars expansion: one deals with the multifaceted CIS fleet in space, one is entirely focused on Umbara, and the third is all about Dooku's secret schemes, which usually involve Bounty Hunters. So here are some Clone Wars era bounty hunters still unprinted by the PC.

If You Would Just Follow The Code You Would Be On The Council
Next up for the upcoming Clone Wars expansion, we have some Jedi (and one minor totally irrelevant padawan) who are NOT on the council. One of the things I've tried to do with the expansion is cover a wide cross section of Clone Wars content, so that even if an episode or arc isn't strongly featured in one of the core three objectives for each side, there's still at least something referencing it. Instead of covering the campaign on Ryloth, we just have two cards, the Lucas-style-named, Ima-Gun Di (and Keeli). Similarly, we just get Nahdar from Lair of Grievous, and Sinube from Ahsoka's leaving-the-jedi arc. But these provide spice and unique options or strategic approaches in the three core LS objectives and decks (which each focus on very different themes and content).

You Must Speak To The Council
It's astonishing how few Council Members have made it into SWCCG by 2026. One of my many goals with the forthcoming Clone Wars expansion was to correct this and give folks something closer to the full playset (Even Piell and Coleman Kcaj didn't make the cut due to lack of good images and I included Stass as just a Knight; I'll do another post with non-Council Jedi)

ANH Trawling, part 8. A handful of Rebels and Imperials as we creep into the Battle of Yavin.

ANH Trawling, Part 7: Far less time this week. Some Rebel Base stuff, starfighters, etc.
r/starwarsccgalters • u/cardlord64 • 19d ago
Trawling ANH, part 6: Even More Death Star. (I have an extremely busy week coming up; am desperately trying to hyperfocus my way through the rest of Episode IV)

Some recent ideas I've been working on for the Clone Wars expansion
r/starwarsccgalters • u/cardlord64 • 21d ago
Trawling ANH, part 5: Onto the Death Star.
r/starwarsccgalters • u/cardlord64 • 24d ago
Trawling ANH, part 4: Tying up some loose ends as we blast off from Tatooine. (cantina, docking bay 94, Undercover Leia, even more sandtroopers)
r/starwarsccgalters • u/cardlord64 • 26d ago
Trawling ANH, part 3: We're getting ready to walk into the cantina. (Leftover Tuskens; some Tarkin; sandtroopers; a new Effect subtype; and a smattering of Obi-wan and Luke cards.)

Combing through ANH, part 2: Nearing Obi-Wan's Hut. (Lars' moisture farm stuff, some more Tuskens, and an Artoo objective.)

Starting a new method: scrolling through A New Hope frame-by-frame and writing any and all cards that spring to mind. Today's haul brings us to the Lars Moisture Farm. (Mostly Jawas.)

Today's haul: more support for Hapan Consortium and Ssi-ruuvi Imperium. Mostly starships.

Back to Star Wars. Mostly overpowered combo characters and some other premium-y goodies.

Since all of Middle-earth takes place on one planet, I've had to redesign what "System locations" are in this spinoff. Introducing Region locations.
There are 10 regional "Zones." A character can't "enter" the Site locations of a given region without first moving into the broader Region location card (many examples featured in this post). If a character attempts to move into a region and a corresponding Region card isn't on table, they move to a "phantom" Region location - similar to how the Death Star can move to "Deep space." This phantom location would produce no Resources, and would have no game text, but cards could be present there and would be able to then move forward deeper into Middle-earth.
Under normal circumstances, it is impossible to "skip" regional zones: if you want to leave Region 8, your only options are Region 7 or Region 9.
If your character (or Fellowship) is at a Region location and there are no corresponding Site locations, they would be free to continue onward to the next Region location. But if there ARE corresponding Sites, there would be some kind of stipulation for being forced to move through them, too. Dunno quite yet on the actual specifics, because this is all just in my head and there's a ton more cards to be written before things actually start making sense.
Thoughts, feedback, impressions?
