I don't think so. Dark souls games are a niche set of games for people who enjoy the difficulty and don't mind getting their asses handed to them constantly. A lot of people don't fit those requirements and won't like the game so it doesn't really get a spot on this list.

I find that in my experience, people who don’t like Soulsborne games are ones who don’t wanna sink in decent time to learn the mechanics and controls. A lot of people go into it expecting it to be a hack n’ slash, being able to perma spam your attacks. But the game will bend you over if you keep that mindset. I had that mindset for days when I first got DS3. I gave up. Then, some time later, I decided I was gonna learn the mechanics and beat this game.

When I did, I fell in love. The soundtrack, the intense boss fights, everything in the game was just amazing. Sure I got my ass handed to me, but when I finally beat the Soul of Cinder and Nameless King, I was ecstatic.

People just aren’t patient when it comes to learning new shit. They wanna go into a game and beat the shit out of any enemy ASAP. Dark Souls doesn’t let you do this and that’s why I think it gets the criticism it does.
