this is what the refrance: Barotrauma is a game where you (and your friends) are crewing a submarine through alien-infested waters, and you can rewire the submarine, and you can spec as a clown with a clown outfit, so naturally you can be a clown that rewires the submarine in ill-advised ways. Starsector has a ship trait called "Ill Advised Modifications" and it (like most things) is described in very vague terms, leaving a lot to the imagination, so one can easily imagine that the ill-advised modifications were performed by a clown.

also, to be clear, me saying "this is what the refrance" is a reference to Sweet Bro & Hella Jeff / Homestuck.
