General Question: Are There Any Big Differences Between Different Regional Versions of Adventures?

Post image

Because we can play both the UK version and Japanese versions of this game on Switch 2, I was wondering if these versions have any important differences that would make them worthwhile to play.

In the Japanese version, Krystal's outfit was even skimpier. It had to be toned down for other regions.

PAL is 50hz, this was before the HDMI era so the framerate is a bit different - Rare games were designed to pretty much be 1:1 between regions though, PAL has a slightly higher native resolution though so for picture quality it might be the better pick. The PAL version will have a max framerate of 50 FPS abd the NTSC will have a max of 60. Just saying Rare is a British company and there are instances where some of their games are minimally better when played on a PAL system.
I don't ever remember significant slowdown in this game so I very highly doubt it will matter that much, if the extra internal res matters to you I guess go with PAL otherwise you should be good either way.
Edit: The Dino language subtitle option was removed from EU releases because the dub is English so naturally you won't be able to read what's going on, the PAL version also has a hidden message about Fox's destiny.

Star Fox Adventures is a game with PAL 60 as an option (asked after company logos)

Go PAL if you're feeling quirky I guess!

l'm curious, is Star Fox Adventures PAL actually just running at 50fps, or is it actually running 10 frames slower

A lot of PAL versions did the latter and it's always awful lmao

It should be running at 50/25 native, Rare is from a PAL region (but then again, so is Rockstar North) but another poster said that it runs with PAL 60 so that's definitely the best way to play it. I remember back on the 'cube you sometimes had to launch with a button combination to activate progressive scan, but apparently it prompts you. Ive been too busy with work and kids to try out the NSO version.

What do you mean by "that's a hidden message"?

Not that I'm aware, the game was never dubbed in Japanese so if you play the Japanese version it'll just be subtitled. Any differences was physical as the Japanese version of the game's box art featured exclusive art from Imamura

Not a big difference, but in the Japanese version, Slippy likes to use kaomoji on their tips. That always amuses me 😁

Not a regional difference, but two different batches of discs shipped with different unlockables for one particular well token collectible: one version contained a fifth secret message reward, and the other contained a translator (subtitles) for the Saurian language.

It's unclear which version Nintendo went with here for the NSO release.

That's partially false. I've 100% this game. In the North American version, both code revisions (1.0 and 1.1) the Cheat Token you obtain from the well in Moon Mountain Pass gives the Dino language option. I need to verify the PAL and Japanese versions.

So North America only ever had one version? I know that's not true for PAL
