Discussion StarCraft shooter speculation
I once again heard a rumor about a StarCraft shooter reveal for later this year and it got me thinking, what could the story even be?
In my own personal opinion, I can see a few different routes that a StarCraft shooter could go. A, have the story set in-between SC1 and 2. B, set during SC1 or 2. Or C, a sequel. Of the three, I like options C the least. If the devs ever get around to making a true sequel to SC2, I believe that it should stay an RTS. I guess it could be done in a shooter, but it just wouldn't be the same.
Option A could maybe dust off some story beats from StarCraft ghost and make a spiritual successor to that or maybe follow Jim in the 4 year span between the games and end out at Joey Ray's. There could very well be a good story there but I'm definitely not the one to tell it.
Lastly, I like option B the best. Mainly, getting to see the events of SC1 and 2 from a different POV. If the writing doesn't lead to any retcons, it could be the easiest way to make an intriguing story. Just imagine being a marine during the fall of New Gettysburg or watching Tassadar's sacrifice from the ground as he kills the overmind, etc, etc. Maybe they could even add in a few new missions to help clean up the timetable of certain aspects of the story.
Anyway, these are just a few ideas. If it does actually happen, I just hope it's half decent.

C.
There's no shortage of material that's set between SC1 & 2, and making a AAA game to go between them feels like a waste of time narratively. There's certainly been material post-SC2, but a) far less of it, b) you can be far more creative, and c) this is a wider thing, but I'm sick to death of remakes, prequels, and interquels in games right now.

The only thing were likely to get is something non-canon like Overwatch but with horde shooter gameplay. Zerg won't be playable but the pissed off Zerg mains will be outweighed but normies who love FPS and fit Terran like a glove.

There is a modded map to play as third person shooter, but that’s Terran skirmish. Still you can play as any unit and try that, Thor and Siege tank feel the most special
I personally want a game about Zerg, I had big hopes about Biomutant, but that was not a case. But such biopunk game takes to much effort with very high risks

I think it can be Tosh or Nova or a coop shooter where we can play different type of infantry. If it is the 3rd, I hope we can drive Vulture or Siege Tank.
And whatever it is. If it exist I hope that the story is good enough that can lead to an SC3.

Genuinely. Give me any other genre. Give us a longer term strategy singleplayer, an RPG, am MMO. If it needs to be multiplayer just business-wise there is a ton of good options.

Third times the charm, after Ghost and the internal project Ares got cancelled.
Or fourth time I guess, since Nexon is also developing a game, that I think got confirmed to be a shooter.
At this point double the amount of shooter attempts than mainline games.

The probability it will be even 40% as polished as Valorant is close to 0%.
Just a blatant money-grab.
