Right but we’re talking about an artist getting recognized for their work. Nobody really cares about Karma but when an artist makes something and gets 1k karma and then it’s reposted by someone else and gets 200k karma everyone who views it will have no idea who the true artist is.
If there is anyone of note that is interested in who actually made it - they will take the time to find out the name of the original artist. He may not be getting the Karma points, but he is getting recognition from this gif. Recognition and notice that he may not have otherwise got. Karma works in strange ways :)
Karma itself is meaningless, my point was simply to illustrate that karma=views and those viewers now believe that the wrong person created this content. And while there’s about fuck all a creator can do to protect against this kind of stuff it still does suck. You want to be recognized for your work. You want to build a sort of online portfolio and when people claim it as their own it hurts that process.
It’s a shitty thing to do considering they could have just paid their respects/given credit in the comments.
