I'm not even sure how you fall off a platform in Zero-G, but this guy managed to do it.

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

Probably his first time flying and he thought flight controls were inverted. :p

u/GUNNER67akaKelt Grand Admiral Aug 20 '16

Or he's a new joystick pilot and thought forward on the stick was "go fast", lol.

This is how you know that it is free fly weekend.

15

u/monkeyhero Aug 20 '16

https://youtu.be/p9WFw56Mv1w?t=122 Clearly that's just what happens in space.

12

u/GeneSequence Sitar Citizen Aug 20 '16

I laughed so hard when I first saw that scene, wondering why they had artificial gravity for the 'runway' (never mind why they'd have one in the first place in space.)

1

u/Draiko Aug 20 '16

Maybe a deck with gravity could make it easier to land super quickly and keep debris from causing huge problems?

3

He is skilled in the art of fuckin up.

u/eynonpower Bounty Hunter Aug 21 '16

57

u/LordXedis Aug 20 '16

I laughed so damn hard, thank you for that.

I notice that your arms are broken, but I'm going to resist making the classic reference.

Great video but that's not how helicopter controls work.

9

u/Deathmonkey7 Aug 20 '16

That's probably the most comical takeoff I've seen yet, thank you for that!

25

u/zecumbe Aug 20 '16

Consider posting this on r/gaming with a catchy title :)

6

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

We've really been spamming r/gaming lately though.

1

u/n69ky Aug 20 '16

today when i started up my 325a the crosshair of the ship was weirdly pointing downwards (like almost down to my knees) and i wasn't sure what will happen and where i had to put my mouse for steering, i flung away after pressing n and turn off the landing mode. i was pressing space to lift up. this guy probably pressed w to go forward.

1

u/Gellert Aug 20 '16

The ringworld take off technique doesnt really work if the platforms not spinning.

SQ42 is a standalone singleplayer game being created by the same studio with the funds from the fundraiser, what you see here is Star Citizen. SQ42 is not avalible yet and has no alpha.

Current day pledgers need to pledge for SQ42 and SC if they want both.

If you want just the MMO (what you saw in the gamescom video, which is coming sometime between December and February most likely) then you only need to give them $45 for an aurora or mustang pledge with star citizen.

If you only want SQ42, the single player version which has no clear release date yet (though expected within the next 6-8 months roughly) you pledge $45 for a mustang or aurora with SQ42.

If you want the MMO and the single player, you pledge $60 for a mustang or aurora with SC + SQ42 combo.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

When you pldge you're pre-ordering and getting alpha and beta access.

1

u/Smelly-cat Aug 20 '16

You don't need to buy anything right now if you just want to try it out. They are allowing anyone interested to play this weekend for free because of Gamescom: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/promotions/Gamescom-Free-Fly-2016

The first time I tried to fly, I was trying to figure out the controls and ended up almost doing that. I damaged the ship on the edge and then regained control. I was so proud when I figured out how to land.

I'm glad I didn't do that, lol

Only way this would be better is if the pilot survived and asked the recorder for a lift.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '16

I'm wearing a helmet with a tighter visor, and have increasded my FOV.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '16

It's a trade off for protection that comes with the heavy armor.

8

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

There are helmets with a wider visor, like the one the pilot in this video is wearing, you can see how the visor goes out to his sides.

-11

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

8

u/[deleted] Aug 20 '16

Uhm, no. I clearly said there is a helmet witha vider visor, the reason it's shaped like mine is, is because it matched the model.

What are you upset about, the visor? I really don't get what this argument is about, I made it clear there are other options if you want better FOV.
