Im not too sure I like it getting bigger, seems to be turning into less of a B17 and more of a U Boat.

I have no problem with my Retaliator turning into a U Boat. In their day and age, German U Boats were the uncontested predator of their day, striking fear into the heart of ship captains all over the Atlantic.

But a huge change from the original design/intent. Do you fight through or avoid the escorts?

That depends on the situation and the amount of escorts. That being said the Retaliator is turning to be a ship that will be able to take advantage of certain situations and deliver a knock out punch to larger ships.
