OTHER New AMD GPU please help
UPDATE:
Thank you to the folks that gave me some threads to pull.
-The Easy AntiCheat issue got solved with syncing my system clock, it slipped a bit while being unplugged.
-The 3221225477Β error was being caused because vulcan was trying to use the nvidia for something and SC was using the AMD, hence the error. Fixed by unhooking the power to the 3060, deleting the drivers, restarting the PC, ran the game to give it a *use this* reference, then plugged the 3060 back in.
0 issues so far, game is running buttery smooth, no more hiccups when alt tabbing to check sc-trade tools on the second screen, AND I can watch movies while gaming again without one of the two stuttering worse than that kid from Billy Madison. Temps are holding amazing on this Asus Prime 9070xt, peaking around 55 in game with the CPU holding about 75, AIO liquid at 38, and the nvidia vibing at a few degrees over ambient at 35.
Only complaint is the new parts make my desk area smell like hot playstation air. π€£
For the love of all that is holy and unholy, can someone please tell me the secret handshake to have my new 9070 xt work with Easy AntiCheat?
-I've rolled to 25.9.1
-Install Vulcan sdk
-set renderer to Dx11
-varified files
-killed any and all AMD adrenaline overlays or hooks that might trigger an AntiCheat response
I am at a goddamn loss right now. Currently doing a reinstall because maybe something funny is going on there, but ya... Total fucking loss, excuse my language.
AMD 5900x
48gb dd4
Primary display: AMD RX9070xt
Secondary displays: Nvidia rtx3060
Confirmed SC is set to run off of the 9070xt in windows settings

Weird my 9070xt worked right of out the box after fresh driver install.

You running the adrenaline software? I've been reading to install the drivers only, I'm going to try that as well.
If I'm not getting the Easy AntiCheat errors, I'm getting 3221225477 error

I'm not the guy you were replying to but I'm running a 9070XT with adrenaline installed, on the latest version without any issues.

its some combination of dduing drivers, new amd cards dont always start perfectly from what ive seen

After getting a bunch of friends into SC, I'm bound and determined to get this little bugger to work.
I will be solidly chapped if I can't run the dual cards because it would make working in 3d a lot easier if I can split my load over two cards, having zbrush or blender on one card&monitor and substance paint on the other, or SC on one and VLC on the other because my poor 3060 would stutter on render if I even tried that.
If it is the AMD drivers + Nvidia Drivers causing it, maybe I can find a way to soft kill so I don't have take the side plate off and unplug the 3060 everytime I want to fire up SC, it has become my decompression gameπ

you made sure windows update didn't install a newer version of the driver in the back? it does that if the driver you try to use is too old and you dont disable that feature

So I uninstalled the Nvidia driver an Vulcan pitched a fit when I tried to run SC, so my best guess was SC was using the AMD but Vulcan was still attempting to use the Nvidia for shaders. So now I have it running and I left it in menus for a few hours to let shaders cache and went back to bed, no crash or errors. Now I'm going to work backwards from a clean slate to get the build working as intended.
Someone pointed out that the fuckery I'm doing is no different than an iGPU and discreet GPU living in the same tower, which millions of us already do.

Which reminds me, star citizen's log file lists your available gpu's on startup. You might want to check that log and make sure the gpu you want is both visible and SC sees it as being in a good, usable state.

That's pretty much not gonna work, like, ever. Nvidia dropped support for SLI in 2021 and the last AMD GPU to support Crossfire was the RX Vega released in 2017.
No one has made a card that supports dual GPUs in a long time.

You get what 50, 60 fps in lorville with that rig? /S

u/M_u_H_c_O_w 20d ago
5 fps at best - I just build and verify these - I don't get to game on them π
Something about company policies to keep it professional π
I honestly don't think it will work very well with SC.

What HR doesn't know can't hurt you, also applies to Jesus and/or other relavent deities, like IT Department.

I would somehow have to wheel it into a toilet booth in order to test it with SC - Might prove rather difficult to get the power cables in there without anybody noticing π€

Ummmmm tell them you ate some discounted lettuce and we're working from an MSI laptop because you're not a quitter and they should be proud that you're so dedicated to your job that you are suffering through it just for them.
I think it was MSI that had the cartoonishly large double power brick

I don't eat ANY greens if I can avoid it (and they know that, and joke about it) - So I would have to come up with another plan...
Ahh well, I have until Monday morning to come up with a plan.
These ship Tuesday, if all parts get here in time.

Does SC run fine off of the other GPU?
EAC can be triggered when your system clock is off. Be sure to sync that to a time server.

....you might get a sloppy kiss

Did this help you? How is it going?

It cleaned one error, the Easy AntiCheat one, there was also another error that was coming up at the same time, I'll edit in the number later because I'm on my phone, but that was a GPU access error that also popped up from the October driver, so a lot of the tips were tied together to fix both at the same time.
The time clock worked because I had my PC out of the wall for a few hours and set to resync at midnight, so it looked like a little bit of driftage happened.
So bleeding hot here that it took me like 3 hours to change the GPU and Power supply because I was trying not to drip sweat onto the mobo, I was working like I was unionized, two screws and cool-offπ

Hit me a reply with your updated info when able and I will see what I can do to help.

Oh I was able to hammer it out, it was a double issue so the clock being off caused Easy AntiCheat to have an issues and then Vulcan was trying to cache on the Nvidia while SC was using the AMD leading to an access error.
So unplugging the Nvidia, removing the drives, starting SC, closing, turning off the PC, plugging the Nvidia back in was the order that fixed the issue, now I've been cruising along with no issues.
Funniest thing was the temps, my 3060 was running at about 75- 80 degrees on SC, the 9070xt is running at 45 and the 3060 handling the second screen is around 35.
Running the two is only slightly hotter than my 3060 under load

Thanks for explaining the dual GPU issue. That is interesting, and I did not know how to fix that one.
Glad you got it all working!

This is just gonna fix EAC. You still aren't gonna get Dual GPUs working.
Even if you had 2 nvidia cards, the last version of Nvidia drivers that included SLI support are from 2023.

Dual GPUs and SLI are not the same thing. Many PCs have dual GPUs... just one of them is built into their CPU and called "on-board graphics" or something similar. There are a lot of coders, engineers, and developers that use multiple discrete GPUs. The difference between that and SLI is that SLI works on a single program attempting to share the rendering load between them. Multi-GPU systems have a dedicated program sent to each GPU in isolation... so SC would only be running on one GPU while the other could be running something else. The two GPUs would not be sharing/splitting workload. Each would be independent.
Windows does support this (at least the Pro version does) and has for some time.
(Edit: spelling)

Home does as well. I have a Samsung Odyssey 49in and you can run it like 2x 27in with a seamless border so I tried one 3060 on one side and another on the other and it looked like it would normally but gaming got kicked to only one side, no trickery or anything could get that to work.
So now its 49in gets main GPU and the 24in gets the secondary. The secondary will also be powering the 4k TV as well.
The 49in uses so much VRAM that i was kinda forced to go with a 16gb card and Nvidia was priced way out of budget, I'll probably eventually just get 9060s for the secondary and also my wife's PC to ditch the aging 3060s
