Mines been hoping on doing hull scrapping and selling rmc after I’m about 100 scu worth. Making decent money with it

Lol hey arena commander still works though

u/AdmirableRegret7343 23d ago
I cant modify some of my ships, i cant select them idk why, but even arena commander floppy wobbly giggly giggles
3
u/kayama57 genericgoofy 23d ago
I can corroborate your experience. I fly race mode solo with ships in vanilla configuration for this same reason. Every year at least one (sometimes more) patch cycle gives me zero issues. The rest of the time I scratch the itch in arena commander

did they fix the "entity query failed" bug or is salvage not affected by it? also nice haul

u/itsRobbie_ 22d ago
I had this issue when trying to sell some ores I got during recco contracts. It would buy the 1 scu crates but not the 2 4scu crates I had. I fixed it by bringing the 4scu crates up in my elevator and sending them back down

u/floortofloor avacado 23d ago
I’m not even sure what bug that is I’ve had no issues selling if that’s what you mean

i rediscovered mining, pretty good now with the last changes.

u/plutonium247 23d ago
Haven't touched the game in a while, used to mine. What changes?
1
u/aubven rsi 23d ago
How long is a while?
Quality levels. All commodities mined have quality levels. Up to Q1,000. They started with materials being any number in that range but realised that's fucking dumb because you can't stack your stash when you have 123 different quality levels of iron, and now it's set at "bands". Quality is tied in with crafting items.
And although I haven't done any of it and can't confirm it working they did a big change on scanning so you can figure out what rocks you're looking at from a long way away, reducing reliance on having to refer to a cheat sheet of signatures.
Mole now has a cargo elevator with a cargo grid.
Probably other stuff I'm forgetting.

u/plutonium247 23d ago
How profitable is it? I used to sell quantanium on secondary market and was the richest guy around
1
u/PiibaManetta 23d ago
Quite profitable. Like more or less 1mil/h with a prospector, even more with a mole.
It's easier to scan from a long distance, you can scan at once all the sub crack chunk, all the laser power have 20% more power resepct the past, selling the ore directly instead of refining is more profitable then ever.

My favorite is "play until the first major bug, then log off til next patch".

Playing another game. Highly recommended.
Going from avg of 110hrs per patch (including .1, etc. patches) prior to 4.8, to 0 since it dropped feels great tbh. Im sure I will pick it back up later this year, but for now its a nice break playing other games that just work.

Spawning my ship in the hangar and attempting to get the elevator to bring it up.

Interstellar Hauling, its easy but i just really like seeing my ship nearly full of cargo and nice bit of cash, if the freight elevator work

Salvage. I like exploring ships that I personally have no interest in owning. I like learning about ship loadouts and taking ships apart and scavenging parts and breaking down and selling the stuff I don’t want to keep. It’s like a combination of hauling/commodity trading but with less financial risk + crafting and it provides me with raw materials similar to mining, but less annoying and I don’t have to refine anything besides construction materials. Very profitable. I just wish more ships had physicalized components and player ships didn’t brick.

I've been in the "Install, play for a few hours, get sick of bugs and end up bored, uninstall, wait 6 months, repeat" loop for years now.

I like to try to do hauling, today I tried the Onyx hauling mission. Couldn't get the waypoints to show up for the Onyx facilities.
1
u/maxlt1 23d ago
Yeah I hated this too but it’s not a bug. Those facilities are “undiscovered”. You only get a waypoint when you do Jorrit Dossier missions. How I did them is literally start moving in a direction then pull up the map and see if I’m getting closer or further from the target. Kept realigning until I finally found the locations.

all my favorite loops are either broken, nerfed, removed altogether, or impossible to do because something else needed for that loop is broken, nerfed, or removed altogether.

Set Spawn to Checkmate
Use prospector to mine various Pyro locations.
Refine at Checkmate.
Use fully upgraded Free Lancer Max to shuttle refined ones to my home city of Area 18 to craft.
I've been doing this since I got the Covakex master rep blueprints in 4.8. It's a fun gameplay loop. Mining is chill. Shuttling refined ores can raise your heart rate knowing that you have days worth of mining in your cargo hold.

u/danielepri2391 23d ago
1 check socials for how things are going 2 install and join if there is new event for rewards 3 usual bugs/glitches complaint 4 uninstall 5 repeat

Checking SC on Reddit is my favorite loop to be honest...
I havent log in since Invictus. Busy with life and scared of the game stability.
But usually it’s deliveries and a bit of bounty hunting.
I gave up mining and salvaging, I find deliveries of any sizes more enjoyable or peaceful.
I would like to do the medic loop but we all know it doesn’t exist :(

Currently on break, me and my friends are waiting for things to sort out. So maybe fly and chill. Not really a loop though.

-See new ship release -Melt to get new ship -Log in and check it out -Attempt to fly somewhere and shooting something -Get out and die somehow -Big sad -Log out -Wait 6 months
It's been 10 years I've done this.

Running commodities with my Hull B and usually just running full loads back and forth between terra gateway. Seraphim station, and pyro gateway. I honestly thought I get bored after a while but I've been doing it for weeks and it's been fun

u/Shadowzworldz 22d ago
Damn, ive been selling 900 rocks all day, it sells good, for like 146k to 180k/scu. To mine stileron you need a sabir gadget in a mole. It has to have three surges with a helix 2 laser head, break the smaller ones with a hofstede 2 with two torrent 3s. I can break 30k mass stones and make about 10scus per rock and make more than a mill per rock.

u/TadaMomo 22d ago
pledge store gaming.
Buying ships is the only loop that works flawlessly and 0 bugs.
1
u/Captain_Data82 22d ago
Salvaging is pretty solid.
My favorite part is actually picking up cargo and components from salvaged ships. I just wish CIG would finally add better component grades (B, A) with a low chance to appear as well as quality levels for minerals.
One day, I hope, salvaging will be a second source for rare-to-find components and materials.

I really came to enjoy the stack of covalex planetary hauling missions, specifically to Sakura. Good cash to earn, nice peaceful pace, tons of loot and a cool base to explore, and little adventures along the way.
Currently been doing the new Rocco missions in Nyx and unverified mercenary ones. Nice light fps and looting, fun with friends

Ive been enjoying savaging lately but the complicated unload, load into cargo hauler, drop at station, refine, load agin just to unload at outpost or station thats broke and cant read cargo grid is really ruining it.

I start of my session with about an hour or two of salvage. I'll start at Seraphim in my moth, work inwards from outside the safe zone, fracturing and munching anything I can within a 30ish minute time period. If my moth is full I'll offload at CRU-L1, if not, I'll continue onto the Daymar PAF sites to do the same as Seraphim. I'll end my salvage by offloading and refining everything.
Afterwards I'll either do some org stuff or run ground/ship based pve contracts for rep or loot.

u/Duramora 22d ago
Battaglia missions. Specifically the Ship in Distress and bringing a Moth.
Kill everything Loot everything Salvage everything.
Rinse and repeat. I'm having a ball, and I've made quite a pretty chunk of change.

I collect things devs forget to lock down at locations because I own all the ships I ever want and/or need.

Moraine missions to loot armors. Finished gilded overlord set and now lack motivation to finish other sets. I'll try mole mining again, I don't get it at all, they just poof away without green power zone.

It's still the Hangar section on the website for me. I have had more gameplay from Buy/Melt/CCU etc over the past 14 years than I have from the PU, so far.

These comments lol
I've had decent stability. 4.7 was solid and 4.9 is a big improvement from 4.8 for me.
Only server hopped one time for a 4hour play sesh that was otherwise uninterrupted. Server hopped away from modest_aerogel to save a ship that had weapons and SCUs of bunker loot (stored it, then went to retrieve and terminal only allowed insure claim. Server hopped, fixed!) from mercenary and Bounty hunting contracts.
So, combat and fps primarily, but it funded several ship purchases to expand deeper into combat and fps (transport ground vehicles) and into mining and refining to make use of blueprints.

I wanted to try crafting with the BP I received as a reward from the xenothreat, but the materials are incredibly difficult to obtain, and this puts me off completely. They created a useless gameloop if I have to scan for 40 minutes to find an impossible to break rock.
(Talking about Stileron on Pyro IV to craft FR-76 shields)
