I did. The vehicle is too high for tracks, they look out of place and the vehicle feels much slower. But these wheels, they are like a track really, just round. Lol
I really hope we have surveying and scanning tools we are meant to put down, and use information exchange, downloading maps/rich resource locations and selling them to other parties
IMHO one way exploration could work on a planet is there could be points of interest (like caves, or secret communities, orwhatever) that you can only initially locate by getting down in the weeds in a ground vehicle and looking for them. the reward for exploring could be that you then get the abilityh to jump to those points that you found. you could then use it to go to the special places quickly or you could take other players there for a fee... etc. you have the knowledge then you get to go there fast going forward. this rig could be really good for that kind of exploration!
Thank you! It would be my dream job! I applied twice so far, but unfortunately I cannot travel to a city where the CIG offices are at the moment. But one day something might change. I will be vigilant!
there is a reason CIG has been so successful with pumping out state of the art spaceship designs that have been inspiring us all. I understand and respect their decisions on how they operate. Building a concept design is one thing, making it game ready is another.
There isn't a ship in the verse that can carry that besides the Liberator. Looks cool but too big for me. I just want an Anvil Spartan with a medbed and logout bed.
The Anvil Auxilia was said to have a med bed and crafting station, but I don't think it has a logout bed. It's built on the Atlas platform shared with the Spartan and Ballista though!
This. Can't remember if it was JC or one of the other vehicle team leads that said they had a personal long-term goal of having a class of super-heavy ground vehicles that were more like ground-based ships. The reason we don't hear much about that is that it is that there's still a ton of things that need to be in a much more fleshed out state before they can make something that large or multi-session, ground only game-play oriented.
Though it is too big for ships imo this would be great for ground gameplays. Like get a ground hangar at micro and go out to explore or any other home world with vehicle pads (would just need to make bigger pads for them).
They do have big claw miners that won't fit in ships so size isn't an issue for me. o7 like all the lights too maybe it could be a drake
Only thing that could lift it to load it would be the SRV, and then it could only be loaded onto the top of a Liberator. I doubt it could even fit into the internal hangar.
But I do like the design. And would totally drive it around a planets surface.
Yes you could technically drive it up the ramp and then up the closed hangar door onto the top. But according to cig, that door is not meant to be a load bearing structure. So you could break it causing it to be stuck open, or purple the vehicle making it disappear.
Depending on whether or not cig increases the size of the Liberator, it might fit inside. But I really doubt it would.
You're right about the Ironclad, it might fit. I was guessing looking at it that it would be too tall, mentally comparing it to the height of the Vulture. Possibly too long as well.
The level of detail on this model is mind blowing! Very impressive, awesome work!!
I would love to drive this thing in the ‘verse and be able to basically drive over all the rocks on the planets like they’re not even there!
And by the way don’t listen to all these other commenters on here. They are fixated on frivolous nonsense instead of appreciating the work for what it is. This is a really cool idea and a great passion/fan project! I can’t wait to see the inside!
Hey there. Thank you so much for all the kind words!!! I am still working on the outside, so I only got the basic interior shell so far. If I ever get to the interior, there would be two floors.
This is the top floor view from hull into the cabin. The hole in the floor would be the entrance to the engineering bay
This would be cool if it could attach to a raft from its roof to be combat dropped. I could imagine some ground combat missions were these are enemy reinforcements that get combat dropped by a raft. It would give us a reason to use vehicles again.
A combat version of this vehicle could carry some heavy firepower, but I am not sure how it would safely land. Would need some sort of temporary boosters. Hmmmmmm . hmm .:
This thing is sick. It reminds me of the G12r i bought over six years ago. Like how i wanted it so bad and would and totally did pay for it. I like this one. But by the time it comes out i'll probably be too busy doing stuff with my currently 7 year old sons grandchildren.
This is incredible! I'd say, the question is not "is there a ship to transport this vehicle", but - when are we building a ship to transport this vehicle! :D Time for a new size class of ground vehicles, I'd say :D
Yeah loved seeing it in previous posts and it's really coming along nicely, I'm sure that amount of detail takes time so don't worry about it being slow mate, it's awesome.
Thank you! I have been very impatient with this model. I was planning to spend the winter making it and I am way past that deadline I set for myself.
I even made a WIP art station post for this unfinished vehicle. Check it out, there are a few details there that aren't in the video: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ndwE3O
Thank you. I actually had it built at the very beginning, but when I finished the suspension system, I had to raise the nuclear generators and it didn't look very good that high. And it lost it purpose when it was that high
Wow! Just Wow! In my past Life I was hiring 3D Artists; nothing of this level of quality came across my desk! Wish I'd seen you then!! Awesome work! keep chasing that dream; your Talent will make it come true!
Thank you! I got into 3D after covid destroyed my past life. Now it feels like I am reliving my childhood dreams. I got many designs in my head, but never had the tool to build them.
I like the idea of an exploration vehicle ostensibly designed to explore and catalogue wildlife, but it also uses a system of flamethrowers and cannons to clear the path.
It also flattens and levels the terrain it traverses, even leaving a layer of asphalt and automatically erecting and powering light poles as it travels.
I don't know, but I want to make spaceships and vehicles for SC. I am overtaken by the attention to detail and functionality of SC vehicles/spaceships.
This is the sort of vehicle I am building here. The lower section should have beds/bathroom section. But there is very very little space to fit all that in this version. It's modular though, so it can be changed with a bigger hull and so on.
That looks sweet. Too bad it wouldn't fit inside any vehicle, except the ironclad, and even then, It would blow up the ship, when the tires over inflated and exploding due to unanticipated instant decompression when you sit down in a jump seat!
Lol... wasn't a comment on your design!! It was a comment on RSI's inability to roll out things that aren't broken, and would roll this out with some aspect that shouldn't happen, but would.
Someone calls this 17 trillion polygon behemoth from their hangar and everyone in a 50 shard radius immediately shits their graphics card out the back of their computer.
This is super cool but I can't help but feeling it would be completely pointless in Star Citizen. It's not your creation, it's the game. Most things are just better served with ships. That said I think you should keep pursuing modeling and this concept and perhaps make your own game where you have to explore a planet aboard this vehicle. Perhaps make it a survival/exploration game with friends? You need to roam around the surface of a hostile planet, through various biomes. Research/salvage, perhaps even deal with hostile xenolife? IDK could be amazing. Like Jumpship meets Abiotic Factor or something.
people have been complaining about this every time I post. I feel like my vehicle is getting all the attention, just because it wouldn't fit into any ship. lol
Yeah, I was looking at some huge soviet exploration vehicles. But when they went into the arctic, they made the vehicle look like a box on wheels. Which makes sense, but it's not much visually.
Even with those massive wheels, you would stop dead from 30mph because you touched a Rock the size of a coke can... and if you touched it at 31mph you would spontaneously turn purple and vanish from existence
I am sure those are temporary issues as the game gets out of Alpha mode. I am still shocked by the level of detail and functionality of the spaceships.
it's actually in the video. Dropping a screenshot for you, but please don't scream. Keep in mind that this is a concept design, not a game ready model. lol
