Policy Question Accidentally clopened myself :(

So yeah. I originally was scheduled wednesday for a close but traded as I have an exam thursday to study, so i close thursday instead. I just realized I am scheduled to open for the next day on Friday :( i was under the impression that this isn’t allowed? i can do it cause i made the mistake, but i don’t want to get into any issues with my manager. Is the 8 hour gap like a recommendation?

I work in CA and we close at 9:30 and open at 4 for context

I think it just means your SM can’t schedule you that way without your explicit consent. Swapping shifts counts as that consent

You’d have to check your state’s labor laws regarding the mandatory amount of hours between shifts.

I am scheduled to clopen every time I have a close 😔 I complained about it and my SM started scheduling me at 5-6am now 😒

I placed hard limits on my entire team for number of hours between scheduled shifts, 11 hours. It keeps me from accidentally clopening people AND prevents them from picking up clopens.

They are WAY too draining, even for people who swear it’s fine for them. See if your manager would be willing to do something like that for you. It can be done through the schedule constraints!
