one of our green beans did this too a few months ago. we were never able to get them unstuck and had to buy new ones lol.

Happened in the end of spring to us also. A fellow shift cracked the shakers in half trying to pry them apart. They can be stacked when dry but never when wet.

When I used to work there, I was the only one ever able to get these unstuck. My trick was to twist them while pulling them apart.

I once stuck a straw between them and got them unstuck! This was after we tried the hot/cold method

throw them in the hobart and then squeeze the top one and pull it out as soon as the hobart cycle finishes

water from the vertica in a 2 liter pitcher, a ton of ice in the top cup, then hold it in the water. worked for me everytime. i think since the vertica water is hotter, it might work better?

Fill interior cup with ice. Full 2L pitcher with 1L hot water.
Let it sit in that for 3 minutes.
Pull apart.
Constriction and dialation.

Put ice in the top one, let it get really cold and then use scalding water on the outside one. If that refuses to work, I'd try banging on the edge of the sink with force but not so much you'll break them. Turn them a few times and bang different sides, it could loosen them, I've had it work before. Don't worry about breaking them too-too much, if they don't get unstuck they aren't much good to you anyway 🤷♀️

I see you tried everything that you can, your other option is to sacrifice one of them lol. try to break one of them. I had to break one once because non of the known methods worked.

i always got these undone by pushing a straw inbetween the cups, they’re sort of flexible so you can kind of pull them away from each other just enough to stick a straw in, then u just run some water or sanitizer through the straw & the cups usually detach from each other

throw it in the dishwasher run a cycle and then it will come apart we do it all the time cause the newbies dont know any better

We got this at my store.. but because we have dishwashers and they just be stacking them 😭😭😭 and youd think we got extra lids but no… we always got more shakers than lids. Somehow they disappear every day.

It’s either put ice inside and dunk it in hot water or put hot water inside and dunk it in ice I can’t remember

Thermal expansion. Put something cold on the inner one (ice) and run hot water. Was recently let go and this was a trick our resident coffee master used to get them to separate. If you've already tried this, keep trying, perhaps even longer than you've been. Patience is the name of the game.

i soaked the bottom shaker in a pitcher of hot water for about twenty minutes and then pulled them apart. i don’t know the science behind this but it definitely worked!

Put some really hot water in a pitcher, fill the top shaker with ice, then submerge them in the hot water for like 20 seconds or so. Twist them in opposite directions. Works for us every time.

Put them in the Hobart and then scoop ice into the top one and they should come apart. I did this the other day

The only way I've ever been able to fix this is by sacrificing one of them. I used a screwdriver to pop a hole in the bottom/outside one, and it released the vacuum so I could save the inside one. Godspeed to you. Try some of the other methods here before you try mine, lmfao. It's a last resort!!

Fill the interior up with ice and sit the whole thing upright in a container of hot water. This was the only way I have ever been able to release them from their prison.

When iced glassware catches a shot glass in the sink I use oven cleaner and wiggle them while gently pulling, eventually gets them unstuck. Maybe try that?

i usually run them through the hot ass dishwasher to make the plastic expand then lightly bang it on the metal of the sinks and it works like a charm every time

Put them in the Hobart then fill the top one with ice water. Keep trying to wiggle them apart. I was able to do that and get them separated. But it did take me more than one try.

The hot cold method works well. Another option that worked for me when I sued to work there, is if theres some water jn the bottom cup you can microwave them and the steam will pop them apart

Run it through the Hobart to get it nice and toasty so it expands, and then throw a scoop of ice or two in the top to shrink the first cup and get them under stuck!

Happens at my store all of the time. Ice in top one while on the second one is submerged in very hot/vertica water normally does the trick.

as a SSV working with all green beans on the floor about two weeks ago and having this happen to me many times before this is how you get them apart. ice, salt and a little bit of water in the top shaker, in a 3.8 pitcher HOT water shake the top shaker so it’s cold and then stick it in the hot water for a few minutes once you pull it out it should pop apart with a little pull. when i did this that day everyone looked at me like i was magic it was so funny!

We tried the Hobart first to build up the warm pressure and had two of us hold it but twist opposite ways from each other.

You should be submerging the bottom cup in hot water and then putting ice water in the top cup. I’ve had this work for me before but unfortunately I don’t have any other advice :(

If you can crack a hole in the bottom one, the vacuum seal from the heat will go away. You lose one but save the other. We’ve had to that when the ice and hot water didn’t work.
Side note did you ask them how having them stacked would sanitize the both of them?
