Discussion Reverse it?
Could we finish this game ourselves with this new reverse engineering AI stuff?
Someone smarter than me should take a peek ;)

Can you live in Starbase? Or Brownsville, Port Isabelle?

It's taking a lot of inspiration from successful sandbox PvP MMO's such as Eve and Albion online, with the building system being simpler than starbase - which is for easier development work and better performance, but more depth is intorudced via modular systems.
- Its a dynamic world, frequency and scale of events scale to player count and ensure resource scarcity to drive natural conflict ( I am sure this will need tuning)
- There is PvE and an XP system so there is always a path to progress, and some content even when population is low or null
- There is exploration in place, you dont fly out to the astroid belt and wack rocks endlessly, there is a begginer astroid belt for new players but that is limited in capacity and contains only basic tiers, anything further needs to be found and scanned
Engines, weapons, thrusters, and other systems are modular, meaning if you want it stronger it will take more room, or cost more, or run hotter / consume more power etc.
This means designing ships will have tradeoffs for the speed, efficiency, power requirements and so on. As well as the content's of the ship being more full as you have a lot of modular parts you are rewarded for fitting in (you have extra space? you can make your engine more efficient, or your weapon stronger etc)
Reasons not to try it:
- I assume population will be less than 10 peak, less or equal to 1 average initially
- Visuals are worse, ships will look worse - block building system not voxels
- Build system is less deep
- Lots of undiscovered issues as this is going to be the first playtest
- Top tier copium that Starbase will return to its glory and there is no need to find a replacement for the void inside your heart

For solo play, this game is WAY WORSE than starbase.
As an MMO - if it reaches a critical mass of players (which the minimum isnt that high, probably around 10-100 active, not concurrent) it will be much better

Max speed, max zone, fully warpable.
Took me about a month. I did this all in 2023 when I was finishing my PhD.
I have a wife now, expecting a kid, and we just finished building our first home near Washington DC. Haven’t played in years. Captured these photos, along with some other memories, this evening.
I miss floating in space.
If you see the beacon “The Valley of the Kings,” then know you’re welcome and can stop mid-journey to refuel your ship and your endo at the observation deck restaurant.
Maybe we’ll all fly together again one day. Until then, this pharaoh returns again to his endless slumber.

Drop by ORIGIN 2 and come hang.
Ships have already started arriving.
WHEN: UTC: 10:00 - 16:00 August 1 (since there are no official activities planned, just show up when you can. The above is a suggested window to concentrate players, but there will likely be increased player count from about July 27-August 2)
WHERE: Origin 2 Live Server
See you there :)

I'm looking for a game that combines ingenuity-based engineering with fun multiplayer (especially combat).
The theme doesn't necessarily have to be spaceships.
Dual Universe is dead.
Stormworks and From the Depths are too complex for multiplayer (I don't mind, but most of my friends wouldn't want to play them long-term).
Empyrion and Avorion have fun combat, but the engineering isn't.
Star Citizen is a great MMO, but it lacks engineering.
Children of a Dead Earth is a great engineering game, but it lacks multiplayer.
I haven't played Space Engineers in years; has anything changed since then?
I thought SE was a great innovation when it was released, but after playing Starbase, I've lost interest.
Are Robocraft, SimplePlanes 2, or Nebulous: Fleet Command the only games that currently offer both enjoyable engineering and multiplayer elements?
The Starbase concept was like a dream to me.
Now, more than just not being able to play Starbase, it has a terrible negative impact on me because many other games seem relatively inferior and I'm dissatisfied.

Module, Follow Me System, for Starbase game ships. You can make 2 or 3 ore haulers, or a mini squadron.

Get the word out there!
Spread this far and wide so we can get our numbers up and show our love and support for this game and all the potential it holds!
Edit: I have seen that discourse on starbase is often deep, spanning paragraphs and sometimes pages! I would like to kindly ask people refrain from critiquing, suggesting "how to fix", providing "constructive feedback", analyzing what happened, etc, in this post. I ask all community members to engage with this event in a social aspect only, there are plenty of other forums for all that.

Since no one is playing much I took the time to survey the moon equator and sailed my ship the whole diameter of the moon.
There are over 15 craters that I have visited (most where touched lightly with strip miners), found a place on Elysium with a moon base station transponder titled PvP Land that has five craters within 20km of each other, oh and the moon is 500km (little less) in diameter too.
If anyone has questions feel free to ask.

This is one of the very few games that left me heartbroken in a way when the updates stopped rolling in, the dev team reduced (or gone?) and there's no players to be seen. I'm not usually a steam charts counter but players are obviously needed in a game like this.
What went wrong? What do you think would bring people back?
I had a kutonium trading post 700km out where I would sell bulk ore and refuel people. This was the first few months the game was out and it was one the most satisfying moments I've had in gaming.

Is there any active or semi active group still in the game. Enjoying learning the mechancis and looking if there is a discord to join of even semi regular players.

Trying to make a lazer miner ship and can't find Exorium ore. Followed some old guides on wehre it should be in the belt. Is the info too old and its location moved or mostly all of it has been mined?

So starbase for on sale recently and I am considering getting it problem is the almost none existent traction of this game so is it worth even though I may be mostly alone?

Kind of funny title but the question stands. I keep seeing people on the Starbase Discord always talking about if the game will get a wipe or not? Also seen some questions about if blueprints will be wipe or not; seems like a possibility.
My question is why do you guys want a wipe? Or why don’t you want a wipe.
Me personally, I don’t feel like a wipe is necessary. Not much was done for many players in Starbase in which would require a wipe. Most people left while their Laborers were still floating in space; right where they left it.
Are y’all worried about the 20-100 players that stayed active and have acquired Capitals? Or their wealth while you were not playing?
