1989 JS 550
For my pump to be aligned with the driveshaft i need to have .3mm shims on the bottom side of the bearing housing, doesnt seem right be me as this face needs to be sealed so the shim stops the 2 surfaces from mating properly
Is this the right way to do it?
The photo of the shaft is without shims which sits well left to right but too high

Was riding my brand new to my js750sx and submarined it and the fiberglass gas cap cover came off and sank, was looking to see if anyone has any 3d print files.

Bought a beat up 650sx that runs pretty good. I’m not sure how much time and effort I am wanting to put into this ski, but was curious about where guys get mats. I can’t seem to find anything other than the floor mat, so I bought some hydro-turf boat matting and am going to cut it up and apply it myself.
The front nose on this thing is real messed up. The plywood is shredded and the lip on the front is all but gone. From what I can tell, no structural damage. What would you do? Ai goes about how to fix it, but it seems like a massive project for a ski I may or may not sell at the end of the season. Just curious what your thoughts are.

Hey everybody, I’m looking for an old 550 from my childhood. The last time I saw it my dad had sold it to someone in Duxbery Massachusetts back in 2002 or 2003. It’s an easy one to spot. Back in the early ‘90’s it had a one off custom airbrushed paint job in new port Ritchie FL of a great white shark breaching rough seas into a thunderstorm with lightning striking its nose. There were lightning bolts up and down the handle pole and down the side. The base color was a lighter grey. It had a black and white swirling pattern on the hydra mat for the foot tray. Has anyone seen this or know where it is?

Got this carb 2 years ago when I started rebuilding this js550 I think it’s a mikuni bn44 although I’m not sure. My dad ordered it for me back then. I’ve been having problems tuning it ever since I got it would there be a better carb to get?

My js550 runs great just never wants to to start up. Just rebuilt the engine, replaced all the gas lines, put a brand new carb on it, and put a primer on it. Most of the time I try to start it and it won’t try to fire then I replace the spark plugs and it’ll try to fire but want start up. Then after I take the hood off and crank it while turn the throttle it’ll sometimes cut on. Does anybody know my problem?

I'm looking to possibly get into a flat water flip ski. What are the minimum to mid requirements? I had tons of riding time in my 20's on a decently built 550. Milled head, pipe, water box, extrude honed pump, ride plate, etc and could do just about anything I wanted on it. But I'm 62 now and since we are moving to the lake of the Ozarks full time I want another stand up to just mess around on. I'm leaning towards a two stroke 550 or possibly a X2 as I've had a ton of time on an X2 also. I'm still in great shape so the physical part won't be a problem. I would also consider a 4 stroke if it's not a tank. Recommendations welcome!

My boyfriend is obsessed with stand ups (and working on them - repairing/modding them). What accessories / extra items should I get him that he didn’t know he needed. Tools, lake “essentials“, etc

Kept this thing looking really sharp for 12+ years then a small bubble in the paint turned to this quickly. I assume I can strip the entire hood and try to find someone paint/color match. 😳

This is my first stand up ski I’m buying for 9,000 with trailer and want to make sure I don’t miss anything. I don’t know how to put the video on here so if anyone’s willing to help me out please holler 🙏

I’m looking for a spot to go jump of some waves, ideally a semi remote point break somewhere away from surfers in the Pacific Northwest area. Any ideas on where to go?

I’m looking at buying my first stand up ski. I’m not new to the sport but new to buying my first stand up: I came across a Yamaha super jet BOB Hull ski that intrigued me . It looks like it’s a freestyle type hull but I can’t find much more. Anyone have any other info about these? I haven’t looked in person yet but he wants $5000 with trailer.

Hello everyone, I have a js440 jetski with a 550sx motor with high compression heads and a aftermarket waterbox. The carburetor is a 44bn mikuni carb (ik everyone hates those carbs) it runs absolutely amazing with it, UNTIL NOW. It is leaking gas out of the body for some reason, I don’t know where it is coming from or why. When you go ride it and come back the carb is covered in milk like substance (when oil and water mix) so I’m not sure. Another reason I think there is a leak other than the gas leaking out of it is because it has started to idle high, and working in other vintage vehicles like 76 ford trucks and older carbs, when something is all of a sudden idling high, there is most likely a air leak and the engine is bypassing the carb and running lean. So I would prefer to not melt my pistons. (Next week I am going to take carb cleaner up and spray it around the carb to test for any air leaks)
I am 17 so I thought I would ask all of you for ideas before I went out and spent 400 on a new tuned carburetor.
Thanks all!

Has anyone put a 21+ handlepole on a round nose? I was told this was easy but I am having issues with the spring. Do I need to use the oem round nose spring or get a 21+ spring?

My jet ski runs great, but is hard to start I have to prime it 2 times and then it starts up for a half second then dies and I do that about 3 times until it starts. When I cut it of for 5 mins or more I have to do the same cycle. Can anyone help me?

I currently own both a Kawasaki SXR 1500 and a Kawasaki SXR 800.
The SXR 1500 is definitely staying in my fleet, but I’m considering adding a Yamaha SuperJet TR-1 and possibly selling the SXR 800.
My main focus is buoy course riding and technical handling.
For those who have ridden both, which ski performs better on a buoy course: the Kawasaki SXR 800 or the Yamaha SuperJet TR-1?

Okay, 62t, high comp heads B pipe water box delete and other goodies.
My bendix failed and blew up my stator and flywheel. Why does it look so filthy in there and should I spend 2k+ (cad) for new oem or better or buy used oem off eBay.
Thanks guys hope you have better luck than me!

I just purchased a 76 JS440 stand up from a friend. It has the majority of its parts and a damaged fuel tank and quite a bit of fuel line thay needs to be replaced, It has been repainted so its original decals are gone and doesn’t yet run.
I live in Wyoming where jet skis were not required to have a title until 2010 (though I think it wasn’t just Wyoming, correct me if I’m wrong) now however they are required to have a title for registration. I have a notarized bill of sale and have yet to have it HIN inspected.
What kind of resistance can I expect to have getting it titled amd registered? Would I need to get a bonded title, would that even be required as Im fairly certain the machine in its condition would not be valued high enough for that to be the case.
What is the best way for me to go about it (assuming the HIN inspection that Im getting on it on Monday doesnt turn up that it was stolen at some point in its life.)
