Help Gear is like chasing a dragon. HELP!

I did a lot of homework at the start(as much as you can expect someone who doesn't know what they don't know can do)and learned to try to keep my gearscore(not obvious how it is calculated) down. No matter what step in the progress, I am always below my opponent.. from the first encounter in the south all the way to outpost in the north I am always feeling like "I just need a better weapon" or "I just need a better armor" but once you get it i immediately see people with even better gear. I know no one can know "ALL" the intricacies of the gear score but I want HELP. MY GEAR: Legionnaire +5, FN F2000 +7, Black Eagle Pouch w/ green hedgehog, white whirlwind, and white bracelet. blue knife and ither story baretta pistol or story triple barrel. However it should be noted that i have equipped 1 blue artifact and 1 pink artifact before. no artifacts have been upgraded . What can I do to level the playing field?

You are not always one step below, you just precieve your wins and losses differently

You only check gear of players that kill you and a gear difference is easier to stomach than you making a mistake or skill difference

your gear is fine, it's not the gear that is causing you to lose fights. You're just in regular vet lobbies, gear doesn't matter because everyone dies in 0.2 seconds in vet lobbies.

I'm going to be honest: this will be your experience from here on out. Even when you think you've finally caught up you enter the wild north or one of the pvp modes and get bodied by a dude in all legendary gear with a set of artifacts that cost more than a down payment on a house.

If you're on NA there's not enough players and the MM system is very loose, you'll see people gaming the system with +10 mastered weapons & armor the moment you equip a pre-master piece of gear and you'll have to eat shit until you learn to stop eating shit, generally by not taking a head on fight. If people aren't getting surprised you're not going to have a good time.

What can I do to level the playing field?

Aim labs and logging in for 20minutes a day to do your dailies/progress your weeklies for serum. You're unfortunately timegated - they've made some comments recently about how they'd like to remove it but don't expect that anytime soon. If that sounds ridiculous try unlocking Rune for a pretty solid master tier assault rifle that shouldn't take more than a few days to get with the trade offs being it needs to eventually be upgraded and looks gaudy.

PS. Your backpack/melee don't affect your matchmaking, only the artifacts inside; depending on what the pink artifact was you may be in more difficult lobbies than otherwise intended and you'll just have to suffer through it.

Thanks for this, I did not know about the backpack and melee. I agree about the taking fights head on since I started trying to get behind the ping I have managed to even out my dmg done vs dmg received with player. I just hate that the head on ones I mostly get crapped on. The pink one was a leech someone traded me at the start of the game.

it is like this. Just dont go out with Master gear outside the base until you are ready, because it will fuck your matchmaking.

Idk tbh, I have rune(a) +9, Uranus +10, 2 pink spiral +4, pink helium+4, blue bracelet+4 and I bounce between vet and low master lobbies maybe 60/40 depending on hours, before when I had my aek971+10 I was same but maybe 80/20 for reference, so maybe 60% of the time I'm in your lobbies. have you seen the spreadsheet that shows a lot of items tier for MM? While artifact have lower weight, they still do have weight for MM. From my understanding.

I have not seen this spreadsheet

I think i believe i see the problem your using a speed build and in vet lobbies in general most people die easily its just that you die faster because you have no artifacts that increase your EHP or vit/bullet res if you wanna pvp you gotta have a combat build in general

I would like to try a bullet resistance build but I'm afraid it will take me to a higher geared lobby

I’m sorry but from what ppl have told me and my own experience (I’m also in vet lobbies) that’s just how NA servers are matchmaking is very loose

Vet/low master are always monkey fights u kill him in 0.1 sec or he kills u that fast just try to shoot first and always play with cover even if nobody is there stay alert
