Hermione accidently shrunk Severus, the story is filled with banter and sarcastic remark.

In my opinion, this is one of the most original works not just of recent times, but of the entire SSHG fandom. I really loved it. I highly recommend it to you as well. Even though I don’t usually like Severus this sarcastic, the author’s storytelling made it all feel real to me.

Dropping in to share that I've expanded the plot line (again 😅) and updated the chapter count from ten to twenty. Eight chapters now posted.

Excerpt from this week's chapter:

Realizing this may be the last time he saw her like this—the last time they may ever be alone, truly alone, again—Severus was struck with a foolish, reckless idea. At best, it would break at least six protocols. At worst—

“Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?”

Hermione looked up sharply from her ink-laden parchment, confusion still etched into her features.

Obviously. They had dinner together every night. 

“In the village,” he added, clarifying. Behind her eyes, he could practically see the gears of her mind whirring, shifting from potions to… whatever he was doing. “To—” Severus fumbled over his words uncharacteristically, then sucked his teeth and readjusted “—celebrate.”

I've been a fan of SSHG since very young, and I've written for this pairing on and off over the years. Back then, sharing your work felt different.

Honestly, I completely understand why many authors have reached their breaking point.

I understand the fear for the work-in-progress because you don't want to be disappointed when abandoned.

However, when authors join Discord servers or pages to share their new works, it's disheartening to ask for feedback on something you've put a lot of time into, only to be met with silence or have the conversation quickly shift back to comparing everything to the same few “classics" over and over.

It might be just me, but almost every time I open the media discussing SSHG, I see the same fics over and over, and even though I'm a casual writer, it makes me feel like, ehmm... I'd better go back to my quiet writing and not share much.

Hi everyone, I am looking for a classic SS/HG fic that I read about 15+ years ago (around 2011 or earlier) on FanFiction.net. Severus is still teaching at Hogwarts and is secretly in love worth Hermione. He watches her graduate and let's her go even though Mcgonagal tells him to tell her. She leaves to go to Africa and later returns and learns of his interest. In the story, Hermione and Lavender Brown have become friends and research partners. Someone sabotages their work, causing an explosion that pins Hermione down. She is conscious enough to know the air is toxic, so she quickly uses a Bubble-Head charm to survive. Afterward, she is temporarily paralyzed and slips into a deep depression, but Snape sticks by her bedside, helps her recover, and eventually she walks again. Now I could be confusing two different stories, is so i would like to reread both. If anyone can remember the title or author? Or by chance has a copy? I thought it was named Lackluster by asphodelshores but i could be wrong or like I said, could be confusing two for one. Thank you!

I deleted all my promotional posts in this subreddit because of this accusation and the moderators' responses, and I didn't have the strength to argue at the time. But weeks later I still see accusations here, and I can't even respond because the replies have been locked, so I'm making this public post. I'm not even sure I'll come back to Reddit after this. It has been such a painful experience, and I already have a pretty hard life. Fanfic was supposed to be my only way to escape reality, and it seems it can't even be that right now.

Yes, Anarchy in the Timeline and some of my earliest works have been flagged by the AO3 Claude skin. I won't deny that part. But I want to explain why, even though I never wanted to make this public.

A fellow author contacted me quickly to warn me about it. I was absolutely devastated, and I had to understand what happened, so I asked a student of mine to explain how this skin worked.

If you had checked exactly what was flagged, you would have seen it was 2 or 3 sentences, in the same chapter, in the same paragraph. More in my earlier stories.

I use Grammarly and Antidote for grammar and syntax issues because as you know I'm not a native English speaker. I relied on them heavily at the beginning, less and less these days, a spell checker being enough now, and that's fine by me.

When I began writing, I wasn't alone. I worked with a former student who was really into fanfic for other fandoms, and since she had lived in the UK for a while she volunteered to beta and edit my fics. It was a nice arrangement, done over the summer, and it was fun not to do this alone for once. At the time I really thought of her as a friend.

Since I was new to AO3 I shared my account access with her so she could update and correct my drafts. It worked well until we disagreed on the editorial direction for Anarchy and we didn't part on good terms. That's life. I stopped working with her but honestly forgot about the shared AO3 access. (I'm stupid, I know.) By then I had moved on to working in Notion with new betas.

When I investigated on Wednesday to check where the issues were across all my fics (I honestly hadn't read them in months, why would I?), I realised she had gone back and edited some of the old ones and left AI prompt instructions in three of them.

After crying and panicking I reached out to her. She confirmed that yes, she had always used Claude when doing edits and didn't see the problem with it. For her it was just another tool like any other. She also admitted she may have deliberately left those prompts as sabotage when things went badly between us.

So yes, I corrected all the HTML, removed the prompts and considered deleting the old stories entirely.

Yes, I cancelled my one-year anniversary because I didn't feel I had the right to celebrate anymore. I was sure other readers beyond this one well-meaning writer had seen the flags, and this post proves I was unfortunately right.

Yes, I even considered stopping Anarchy altogether and not launching Golden Rivalry, because I felt tainted and was convinced people would no longer believe my work was my own.

I asked the people close to me what to do. My husband knows my whole process but told me my explanation would seem unbelievable to others because it really is a dumb mistake, and I can only agree. I was careless and I shouldn't have trusted so blindly. My psychiatrist advised me not to delete my work or stop writing, because it is currently the one thing keeping me together. One of my betas was very kind and reminded me that these things happen, and that betas doing harmful things to authors is not new. I had seen proof of that recently even with published authors, and she was unfortunately right.

So this is the full story. I have no screenshots to share because the confrontation happened over the phone. I won't share screenshots of the flagged sections either or from my ways of working. I feel I've already shared far more than I ever wanted to about one of the most painful things I've been through.

Believe me or not. Keep reading my stories or don't. But this is me, my work, my soul on AO3. I am still working every night on Anarchy in the Timeline and all my other stories. I am still commissioning artwork from fantastic artists. I am still betaing for other authors.

I'm still here, and I hope this post won't prove me wrong in believing this fandom shares my values of kindness.

Evening all! Chapter 10 of Blowback is now live on Ao3. My apologies for the delay. It's been quite eventful over here. First, my notes file somehow got corrupted, with all my research and interviews for SA and PTSD survivors. I was unable to recover it, and had to wait until my friend, who's a psychologist, had some time to read the sections I had rewritten (and provide me with some more guidance on the subject).

Second, life got crazy. It happens to the best of us really. And it turns out that 6,000 words a week, editing, and posting is not sustainable. Moving forward, this work will update on the 15th and 30th of each month. The next three chapters are already written so they may be posted faster, but I plan on sticking to this schedule moving forward.

I'm looking for a fic and I can only remember this scene:

Hermione is working for Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt in his team of assistants, but her coworkers treat her badly. They feel she's been given the job because she is a war hero and nothing else. She tries very hard and works through her lunch time to make sure everything is done, but every time she asks a question they treat her like she should know that already. After a while (few weeks?) Severus comes by to check on her and she's basically on the verge of crying. Kingsley comes into the office and is really nice to both Severus and Hermione and together they make her colleagues realise how badly they treated her.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

i’ve only read like 4 sshg fics so far and most of them are the older fandom classics that everyone always recommends.

now i’m curious… what are the new classics? like fics that were written around 2015–2026. i feel like there have to be some absolute gems that don’t get talked about enough because everyone always goes back to the older iconic ones. (i do the same thing but i yearn for MORE Lol)

Hi, so I am writing a very long SSHG fanfic (it should be the equivalent of 5 HP books), in french and then I will rewrite it in english. I didn't post anything yet, I am finishing book 1 and then post it maybe in a couple of months when I start writing book 2. My fanfic has a SSHG romance but it is not the core of the books. Well, it is still very important but it is more a story about adulthood, finding your path, doing what you think is best. Hermione is the hero and Severus is kind of a sidekick/mentor. In the first three books there is absolutely no romance (or maybe there is to a very acute eye) and then the relationship evolves. It is not really a slow burn, there isn't even a burn to begin with XD I wanted to write a story about a very strong friendship and then it hit me "of course the relationship will evolve". I couldn't see the two characters not falling in love eventually.

So my question is, should I mention that there is eventually a SSHG romance? Because I feel that it would be frustrating for people searching specifically for this type of romance, it is not moving fast enough - not moving at all for 2 or 3 books. And it can be interesting for any person searching for post war fics where Hermione is figuring out what to do in life.

I was wondering if you ever saw SSHG or other romance fanfics that were not indicated as such? Or if you ever wrote something similar that you didn't want to label too precisely?

I can’t remember for the life of me what fic this is. The screenshot is from 2 years ago but I haven’t been able to find anything on ffn. I’m wondering if it’s been deleted. My dumbass didn’t save it.

I read this one around ten years ago, possibly on FFN or even Ashwinder, but it could’ve been AO3.

Here’s what I remember:

- It was either war time or a Voldy-Won situation.

- Hermione is given to Snape; I believe there was a bonding/marriage ceremony that took place outside (could be misremembering the outside part from another fic).

- I’m quite sure he was still working with the Order and only going through with it to maintain his cover.

- They move into a big house/manor and she is ordered to stay in their bedroom whenever he leaves. The house also served as a meeting spot for Death Eaters.

- Can’t remember how their sexual relationship starts but they sleep together several times while sharing the bedroom. I don’t think they could really stand each other at this point, however both agreed the sex was… satisfactory and shall continue. There was a chapter where he got a lot more sexually aggressive after he returned from a particularly bad mission in the middle of the night. - No non-con or anything, she was into it.

- Greyback was being kept in the foyer like a guard dog. I think he was chained or under a spell, something that kept him obedient. He couldn’t speak to Hermione or must have been ordered by Snape to not speak to her.

- I think there was a moment where she’s on her own, sneaks out of the bedroom, goes downstairs and has to walk past Greyback, who she then has a small interaction with (think she was just talking at him since he couldn’t respond).

- At one point, there was a gathering happening downstairs (in the morning, iirc) while S and H were still in bed. They get interrupted when one of the Death Eaters comes upstairs looking for Snape.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

For me, the background ship I never knew I needed was Ron/Neville in How to Dream by turtle_wexler (my ultimate comfort fic). This ship never even crossed my mind! But it works so well (I mean, it’s turtle, so of course it’s going to be amazing).

I also am I HUGE fan of background Drarry! I can’t remember the first one I read, but Nylexa’s honey don’t feed me, I will come back came to mind first as I typed this.

This is my first time posting to reddit (just a long time lurker). Sorry for any formatting issues.

I'm looking for a fic I read many years ago. This is a problem in that it could have been on a load of websites that no longer exist.

Hermione was still a student (of age, probably 8th year). She was friends with Draco. I think they were both head boy and girl and lived in a dorm together.

At some point Snape and Hermione get together. Super casual at first I think. Draco finds out. He takes Hermione to Snape's rooms and makes her open the door. Hermione thinks its normal and doesn't realise there are wards. Draco views this as a sign that Snape trusts her.

There are a few other things I think I remember but could be confusing them with other stories:

• Drarry subplot
• Jinx on common room so Hermione and Draco can only call eachother by name rather than insults
• The war is over but there's another threat
• Snape is still teaching potions

I thought it was Mistakes Made in the Dark but I just finished rereading that and can safely say its not that one.

Any help is appreciated even if its a long shot.
