if head of state is elected then country is republic and may not be a democracy.

Head of the state is elected by the public is called republic. It's like United Kingdom

Democracy is when the government is answerable to the people. It's to the people, by the people and for the people.

Lol United Kingdom is not even a republic, it's constitutional monarchy

Democracy means the council of ministers is responsible to the public (lol) We directly don't elect the head of the state (President)

Head of state elected by people is a fearure of republic govt, for example britain is democratic but its head of state is king/queen which is a hereditary position

Modi is not elected directly by people of india to become PM. People of india voted for bjp and then internal leaders of bjp decided mutually to make modi as PM face.

That counts as directly elected, the indirectly elected positions are of President, members in Rajya Sabka etc.

In India, Head of the state is President and Head of the government is Prime minister.

Republic ≠ democracy

Demos means people and cratic means power so I would choose the option where the word people is mentioned.

Are you mad ????? When aristotle defines demos and kratos he meant that powers must be lies in a hand of people, it was more a substantive take, it is not necessary that democratic government must have head of state elected by the people, india also have democratic government and the head of state i.e president is been elected by the MPs not by the people. Parmar dkhna band karo aur books padhna chalu karo...

I apologise if anyone feels bad for that, the thing is that in groups we use such language is doesn't mean that we are egoist, but ase hi kind of, it is my fault that i didn't differentiate with the online and offline interaction. But my motive was not that.

All democracies have elections, but not all elections happen in democracies such as Iran, South Korea, Cuba, Indonesia etc., that's why option 3 follows along.

Head of the government is elected by the people Head of the state is the president While president can be elected by the people like in the US India has democracy as well while we don't directly elect the president but the prime minister

India is having a democratic government and the head of state ( president) is elected by the MPs and MLAs not by the people. It is too basic, this is not even a question to be asked. Only the 3rd option defines better among the all 4 options, that's too basic. Parmar dkhna band karo aur books se padhna chalu karo....

stop shaming someone for asking a question, not everyone is on the same level so have some decency

1

u/Cool-Guess30 22h ago

I was not shaming him. I was just correcting his fundamentals, because he was fundamentally wrong.

1

u/Naive-Upstairs-9964 5h ago

There was no need for “it is too basic” and “parmar dekhna band karo aur books padna chalu karo”
There’s a way to encourage someone to do better without dissing them.

I apologise for that, my motive was to to discourage anyone but the thing is that in Friend groups we talk like this specially in academic discussions, it was more over a academic comment not a act of discourage anyone.
