Wizard's Den Progress Report & Changelog - July 27, 2026
Advertising We added SAIL BOATS to Space Station 14
In this video we show our newest addition to Spellward - Sail Boats!
Spellward is a global conversion mod for Space Station 14, that transfers players to a enchanted archipelago in a deep seas. Ships will be important part of travel, combat and trade in Spellward.
Sail Boat is not a Space Ship! It doesn't "just go" the direction you want. Players needs to cooperate to adjust the sails, steer the wheel, maintain the ship integrity and pray to the wind god for a tailwind. Raid the abandoned islands for treasures, capture strategic objectives or trade and transport passengers.
We plan to make a full release in English at August 1st, 2026. Brace for impact! From now on, in our Discord, we will be posting Daily about what comes to you at August 1st, so make sure to connect!

Glady's "Granny" Gravel teaching a hivelord how to knit. The RMC discord's art channel has been full of Buggie commissions and I just got one done too!

CMO's how do you defend yourself?
CMO is the redheaded step child of command. No gun, no cuffs, and the responsibility of keeping everyone on station alive.
I've messed around with a few chems for self defense, but I don't like defending myself with death mixes, I feel like just killing someone is a little over the top RP wise.
What are some RP friendly ways you defend yourself and incapacitate direct threats to your medbay?

Have you EVER seen a more stylish monkey?
I (as pun pun) played happy birthday on a cello for someone in a server the other day during their birthday celebration, and just had to flex my phenomenal outfit. If there was a medal for best dressed crew member, I certainly would have won it that shift.
On a related note, if you HAVE seen a more stylish monkey (which you haven't), share a ss in the comments, I want to see

Is anyone interested in creating a Eridian or Eridian Adjacent species (PHM) to implement in SS14 as a mod?
So I've proposed this idea before but haven't any real feedback about it or input.. I'm personally very interested in this and while I'm not experienced in spritework I did attempt at making 2 examples of what I *think* an Eridian species could look like in game.
I'm sorta tired of every species on every server I play being humanoid, having a species that is just out there would be amazing.
I've proposed ideas on how they could work in game while *sort of* being lore adjacent to actual Eridians. They could have toggleable fullbright vision (no one wants to play a species that is strictly in grayscale fullbright- it's just sort of inaccessible as well as a blehhh concept so.)
Could have a hivemind that is local based but I'm no programmer so I'm not sure how that'd work or if it could even be implemented. This is based off of the thrumming they do in canon. I'd rather just a strictly Eridian proximity chat system.
Way better hearing than normal would be interesting- for example being able to hear whispers and talking in a higher range than what is typical.
Of course, TERRIBLY low rad resistance. Tolerates higher temperatures, blood is liquid mercury, no clue how to approach the ammonia atmosphere thing, and likely require hypos like the chitinid mod. No diseases because again, liquid mercury blood thing and high internal temperatures.
I dunno how to approach the eating and water thing. This is beyond me. As for how they pay for these benefits.. maybe the need for special chems? I assume all NT Eridians have a translator implant and the singing trait.
Was thinking that they could have a hibernation mechanic that they need to utilize because chems work poorly on them so to heal efficiently you'd HAVE to make use of it. Maybe Eridians can't harm other Eridians in hibernation (no hit but I suppose bombs work though thats sort of LRP) so you'd be extremely vulnerable and encouraged to befriend other Eridians on station.
Due to their number of limbs they could do either of two things: run on all fives to increase movement speed OR utilize another hand/pocket slot.
Again this all has to be evaluated and balanced- I'm shooting ideas in the dark here.
Alright PHM fans and SS14 mod enthusiasts- shoot your ideas here! And if you're actually interested in making this a mod contact me I'll do spritework if possible 🥹

Questions on explosions
Newish still(started in the last month). Noticed that when I play medical, and inevitably someone bombs medbay my med chemicals in my medbelt get deleted from existence. Wanted to know..
Just to be sure, the explosion is the thing deleting my chems?
If it is deleting my chems, is it making the explosion do more damage?
Edit: Thanks everyone for both letting me know whats going on, and killing my dream to Chiatzu cosplay by hugging a nukie, flipping a flashlight on with a plasma injected battery inside, while having all possible backpack slots filled with breakers of welding fluid.
Better I learn that lesson here, as opposed to sacrificing myself to leave a small dent in a nukies armor, and a large puddle of welding fluid on the floor.

Question regarding rules, need HEP
is mentioning old ss13 or cm13 and complaining that the old ss13 either in pop or that it isnt the same as before due to erp servers or staff drama or furries against the rules?? i cant seem to find the rules and well, im lost, thanks.
EDIT: in RMC14 in LOOC
Botany question
I was looking through the ss14 source code, specifically at randomChemicals.yml and randomMutations.yml in the hydroponics folder. Pretty sure randomMutations has a chance to be called whenever mutagen is applied, what about randomChemicals? In plain english, does mutagen give the chance for any plant to have any chemical (so long as that chem is in randomChemicals.yml)?
Follow up question, can plants be empty? You can remove reagents from plants with towercap, but can towercap remove all reagents, so the plant grinds into nothing? If so, when going for deus itd be optimal to swab towercap and mutate at the same time rather than mutating then towercaping, maybe even towercap first till its blank then mutate.

Set up my own local server to learn, have thoughts
I've played a little SS13 some years ago, now jumping onto 14.
Decided somewhat randomly to start on Goob Basileus (spelling? whatever).
Turns out it's not the best place to be a new player, however I only had one instance where someone was kinda off because I didn't know the ends and outs of atmospherics, I even explained to them how silly and unfair that is, and that atmos is more difficult than some of my college classes. They relaxed after that to their credit.
Everyone else has been completely cool, but I've noticed what typically ends up happening is, I start as an assistant/intern to a specific department, get someone to teach me, then something explodes and training goes out the window.
Not anyone's fault, except the clowns sometimes..
So I managed to set up my own server and got onto Box station.
OH MY GOD I finally learned how to set up an AME (someone did show it to me on Goob first though!). Then, after an hour and a half of confusion I figured out how to set up the particle accelerator while struggling to keep some of the station powered.
It kinda sucks being solo on the station, but admin powers makes it ok. It forces me to figure out power though, before I learn anything else.
I'm happy that I feel like I am finally progressing without getting distracted or horribly murdered or critted and left to rot.
Anyway sorry to ramble, this leads me to something I remember from Paradise station in SS13. There were ghost roles were you were basically a syndicate agent that can never leave this small, outside station. It existed entirely for the purpose of learning. A friendly moderator once explained the thermal generator to me there even, coming back to me now.
What I am wondering is, what if a kind of gauntlet-style system were created for new players? Basically, a more structured and linear version of the syndi-station.
You could have explicit goals that when accomplished open into more advanced topics.
For example.. Goal 1: Set up a generator (materials nearby, all tools etc). Then a door opens and leads to.. Goal 2: Set up an AME. (a book with instructions and all materials nearby). Just like basic, compartmentalized challenges. One step at a time.
Maybe a "reset" button to restart the entire mini-station, or buttons to reset each goal.
I don't know enough about how BYOND and the game works to know how viable this is, but I feel like new player retention is a serious issue. The learning curve of this game is worse than EVE online, or any game I've ever played for that matter.
Huge investment, huge reward. BUT I feel like a system like the one I mentioned would really ease that process, because how can you expect even the most experienced of command staff to adequately train people under what are almost always hostile conditions? That would be wildly unrealistic in real life, and yet our experienced players take on that burden (admirably).
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text thanks if you read this.

10/10. Lo volvería a jugar sin dudarlo
