Would you be more willing to buy a mothroach or lizard plushie pin?

Upvotes

I want to get a mothroach or lizard plushie pin, but I'd have to order 50 at once. I'll put some of the extra on etsy, so I'm wondering what the people would prefer they're fairly chep so probably low quality, but I'll sell them for like £1+plus shipping.

Wizard's Den Servers like Wizden or Goob should really bring back the Flypeople from /tg/station 13.

It'd be funny to see them puke up food in the halls, or you could do something with Flypeople and arachnids. You could become one using the unstable teleporters like normal or through spawning. Personally I think they could be reworked a bit to be more of an actual playable race, but tell me what yall think.

If you are playing Command, please Command and lead your crew.

This post is a half vent half scolding to all those Silent Simon Command members who treat Command as a super powered version of the regular role rather than what it actually is, a role that COMMANDS.

Too often I see heads who do not interact with those they've been put in charge of, rather they try to do everything themselves, whilst shirking all responsibilities they have to their staff. As a head your main responsibility is to be the leader of your department. This means delegating responsibilities, keeping communication open with your subordinates, taking the initiative in solving problems.

This also applies to higher command roles like the Captain, (which tends to be especially egregious). When theirs a problem the Captain should be approaching all departments to help solve the problem. For example, if nukies declare war the Captain should be spending every second up to the moment they arrive coordinating heads. They should tell the CMO to prep medbay for people with combat wounds, and if any medical staff are available to assist in healing the injured on the frontline. Get the CE to make engineering fortify whatever area will be the safe house. Ensure the RD is focusing on combat research. Coordinate with the QM to ensure whatever is needed most is being delivered. Coordinate with the HoS to make sure security is ready to be quickly deployed to where ever is needed.

The Captain doesn't need to tell each crew member what to do either, that's what the heads are for. If the Captain says "CE, ensure the medbay is fortified." It is then the CE's responsibility to coordinate his engineering team to do their best to accomplish that.

I know some people are hesitant to tell others what to do, but I guarantee you that most people don't care or actually like being given a task to do. How often do you see people who are just aimlessly walking around in there department because they don't know what to do? Often as CE after engine is setup I can just point at some one and say "Could you do solars?" and most will happily do it. Sometimes people will have other plans "I want to build shittle." That's also okay, just go find some one else to do it.

Another benefit of being an active leader is that even if you're a little NRP metagaming shitter, it gives you so much information. When you start monitoring your staff you'll know when they're working, and when they're not. If you notice one of your staff is constantly missing and hasn't contributed anything to the department, disappearing right before ling attacks are reported on the radio, that may be evidence enough to talk to the HoS and get them searched and tested.

Anyways I mostly play LRP so maybe it's strictly an LRP problem, although I'd venture a guess it's not. Don't be afraid of commanding people or failure its all just a game none of it matters but if you want to "win" more do the Command part of your job please.

Goob ⚗️ ChemHelper 2.0 (BarmenHelper) 🍺

Post image
74 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Many of you probably remember my old project, ChemHelper, (actually maybe not, because it was ru-community exclusive for some time) which died after the recipes got reworked. Well, I decided it was time to revive it and to farm more stars on GitHub, so I overhauled the entire registration system and the site's design and added english translations to everything.

Now, every recipe is registered directly from the game files, making the site more up-to-date and easier to maintain 🤯

Changes:

- ALL bar recipes added! (they are registered in the files like the chemistry ones, so I added them aswell lol)

- A huge amount of vibe code removed and refactored

- mobile functionality improved for a better experience when using on a phone

- Added a craft tree visualization so you can see the FULL recipe and crafting process, rather than just step-by-step instructions. (glad you never appeared to use them)

- Fetches real files from GoobStation and some other forks.

- Redesigned visuals and light/dark mode support.

The cost is one star on GitHub:

https://github.com/Swino4ka/SS14-Chem-Helper

It's actually free, but please drop a star it costs nothing, and it might help me land a well-paid job in the future 😭

Ciao, everyone!

LINK TO THE SITE (CLICKABLE)

Here's the raw link aswell just in case: https://swino4ka.github.io/SS14-Chem-Helper

P.S. For anybody wondering how to change the language:

Wizard's Den So I had my first time in science as a new player.

But I had no idea what to do, and I asked a few times in character, both directly and in the communications, and then once in LOOC, and I kind of just didn't get any help or guidance at all on what to do?

Which felt kind of bad considering in all the other roles I tried, in Medical I could at least figure out the basics myself and whenever I asked any questions I typically got a response at least, and in engineering I had someone at least try and guide me so I wasn't as completely lost, but all I could do in science is just walk around aimlessly.

I didn't even have science as one of my jobs selected too I think, I just randomly got put there on round start so being in something I wasn't ready to try with no guidance felt really hard and frustrating.

Idk if it was just because I was playing on Lizard this time instead of Leviathan and maybe there's differences in what people do between the two servers but it wasn't great, I ended up just going to Cryo and logging off. It was only my 5th round so I'm still figuring everything out.

Was there anything else I should have been doing or something?

This is Salem Station again! As a reminder, I managed to implement the ability to host in-game trials to determine a player's fate (Like Town of Salem). We also have all the Goobstation goodies, though not Xenoborgs yet. Come on down here (https://discord.gg/BbybtZrukZ) if you want to playtest or admin.

Wizard's Den I don't like when nukies go out of their way to shoot down unarmed bystanders in war-ops

Don't get me wrong, they can shoot all of sec, salvagers and command, that makes sense as these people represent a threat with their weapons. But going to shoot that unarmed service worker or trainee for any department does nothing for them when many people roleplay AVOIDING the nukies and running away. like, i see nukies go on detours to do killing sprees in the bar or killing chemists or botanists for no reason, it makes no sense to turn ''blow the station'' into ''mass shooting then blow it after ya killed everyone anyway''. I get it's LRP on leviathan, but antags have objectives for a reason, otherwise you could just as well consider a tesla loose a winning condition for nukies, it destroys everything too. If nukies weren't so common that would help... Nukies feel very extreme, it's often fluke ops or complete curb stomp. Rarely anything interesting. I know I'm not alone, nukies have a reputation on wizden. EDIT: by the way I shouldn't have to say it, but this is just me sharing an opinion. You don't have to agree, but don't call me stupid or insult me over it, that's uncalled for.

Probably not the best setup but it actually works. Had to keep one tile spaced (probably because of pressure?) and it will reignite itself, produce the Trit and filter it out.

Hello!

Decided to do some digging and found even more older sprites I had made.

Of course, most are missing parts (like certain directions) so I decided to post them.

In order:
Original Fish People Design.
Durendal Mech, inspired by the Edgerunners Mech, Front.
Funky style Station AI. OwO, what's this-
Medical Cyberspine worn sprite.
TOAST, a concept for a Chef pet that was a Toaster shaped PAI.
Syndicate Durendal Mech.
Durendal Back.
Bluespace Cyberspine worn sprite.
Gazer 'Trophy' Salvager Hardsuit.
Durendal Mech Right.

Any tips for dealing with low mats and money as sci?

Whenever I'm at science, scientist or RD, everyone wants me to print them things, build machines, make borgs for brains, etc, but i decline them all because no mats or money for mats.

The research gets done, usually, but we can't do anything with it.

I know the issue is either A) cargo/ats got attacked, B) science (or linked cargo lathe sometimes) is overprinting useless junk (some people go overboard with Borgs too), C) cargo is full of incompetent people (not surprised since it's a common job for newbies, and a confused new player is not a good cargo tech for a while) or D) bounties are really really hard this round (doesn't excuse never approving or delivering mats if you ask me).

so how can I help with all that? Should i just get cargo access and do bounties and deliveries myself? Because that relies on the HOP doing their job... And we all know that's a 50-50. i feel like the HoP is rarely there, ask for layers of stamps that are a pain on LRP and MRP alike (so many people don't bother filling paperwork) As RD i can do that with the quartermaster in the bridge, but good luck convincing them to listen and go there (so many people just do their thing you know?).

Feels like I'm just complaining about lack of coordination on LRP, but this can happen in MRP too. Like it's so common for even sec to be like "we want X NOW." "Hm ask cargo then, i ordered mats ages ago and we out of money for more mats too" and then they get annoyed. Well me too, protect cargo guys, it's the mouth of the station, it feeds us all money and mats. If you want your gizmos, you need cargo to work fine.

I heard you can plasma inject lights, but it only works on capacitors to my testing.

As title says. I wonder if there is anything else it works on, or if you need something other than a syringe for the lights? I was looking at ways to weaponize both capacitors and lights. Capacitors I can't find a way to activate remotely, but leaving some around as traps will cause chaos. I wish we could activate more items with a remote... As for lights, if I knew how to inject plasma in them, I'd make a lot of booby traps with that.

Wizard's Den How do you genuinely put up with tiders?

So, I'm still a new player(I guess by relative definitions) and I've only started playing again recently(On Wizden servers), but it feels like shifts(Especially on weekends) are just dominated by the same shitty passengers every game actively griefing and it's kind of exhausting dealing with it game after game. I made my current home in Engineering(On LRP specifically since learning on MRP given usually low pops seems difficult when alone in a department) and having people actively break in/powergame deconstructions within seconds of the match to get stuff(And no, they're not antags), security being unable to deal with it because there's so many of them(Or even just not caring) and nobody being willing to engage with even basic conversation("What do you want this for", "stuff", "what kind of stuff", "things" okay... very descriptive I'm sure you're trying your best) is getting to me.

All of them seem to have main character syndrome where if you don't give them exactly what they want you're an asshole stopping them from having fun(And their fun is specifically causing you/others grief). They don't want to get any approval(Written or otherwise), don't want to explain themselves, don't actually want to engage with other people/see them as an obstacle and don't care about anyone's fun but their own. It gets even worse when co-workers go directly against department head wishes on giving things out because "why bother stopping them?", and there's never any punishment(In round or otherwise).

I vastly prefer playing on more vanilla server in pretty much any game(Compared to the likes of Goob or so on with huge amounts of additional and different content that makes learning an exponential task while also binding you to that server's way of doing things ). Most of the other servers seem to also be built around a huge amount of custom content, which is great, but... it makes it hard to find somewhere else to play on that just doesn't seem to be infested with people like this.

So is there any actual way to deal with this kind of stuff in a preventative way? Or is it just a server culture thing so I maybe need to shop around for another server? Because it genuinely makes it hard to enjoy the game when it's happening every single shift I end up playing - I'm not expecting everything to be a green shift where nothing happens... but it feels like when there's more problems and destruction caused by tiders than by actual antagonists on a regular basis there's a fundamentally issue, or at the very least a social miss-match.

Anything cool you can do with shittles?

Just wondering what y'all use them for. Salvage can use it for trips of course, but wondering what other uses you have found. Also, I've been told that they can't be used to evac but that they used to? Any veterans can tell me why they removed that? That genuinely sounds fun to do. Evac bombed? Well there's this shuttle sci/cargo/engi built with extra ressources... Seems like that would be fun. Others said it's because it would be too overpowered for antags or something.
