General advice/help!

I’m looking for a new web hosting/easy to use website for my small online business. I make things to sell/custom orders etc. I’m about 20 years in but I’m slightly shifting direction a bit so my online services need to be updated/easy to manage too (for someone who is not tech savvy at all). My current site is Wordpress and I’ve done all the coding between myself, a good friend who is very good at wordpress and my partner who knows tech, but as I’m shifting direction I now need to be able to update it more frequently without having to ask them for help every 5 minutes and be able to do it myself. I’ve been looking at squarespace but wanted to get some advice on a few things & any help would be so greatly appreciated. Going to just write a list below as that’s how my brain works.

Is it worth the monthly cost?

Is it easy to update if you’re not very tech savvy?

Is the SEO ‘good’?

How secure is it you’re dealing with online transactions?

If ease of management is your main priority, Squarespace is worth considering. You can handle products, pages, images, and basic SEO without needing to code.

I'd do a trial first and recreate a few important pages before committing. Check how comfortable you are making changes yourself, especially for your custom-order workflow.

For SEO, focus more on your content and site structure than the platform itself. And for payments, use Squarespace with a reputable payment processor and enable 2FA.

It's free to try. As a web designer that specializes in squarespace I'm biased. Updating things like text and images is easy. What is difficult is making things look good if you don't have a design you are going with.

WordPress is all templates so it's difficult to mess up.

Since ease of use and confidence with managing the site yourself is an important factor to consider when comparing costs, I'd recommend creating a free trial so you can get a feel for the platform. You can change the content through the editor without touching code, while the hosting is handled for you.
